CL38 is bad. Try to find 30 or better if you want good performance.

ROFL. I will bet 100 bucks if you can tell the difference without using a benchmark tool.

This is just one piece of the puzzle to squeeze as much performance per dollar.

Yeah its really bad if you have a 14700/900 CPU a good Z790 Board. You may see a difference of 5% in you benchmark tests and maybe a up to 3% difference in fps by games.

In reality this is pretty good ram and even better if you use the Corsair iCUE software.

Well, since i'm fairly certain I can log into bios and just look at the xmp, i'd 100% take your money. Otherwise, stability is one factor. I've ran into stability issues with anything over CL32, even with their stock xmp, and have had to fine tune them. Second, the pre bios black screen can take significantly longer on some boards with higher CL. Third, just playing with opening, and closing apps I can tell the difference between 5600 and 6000, so yea, i'd take that bet. any day.

oh, and since TM5 and corecycler arn't benchmarking tools, but diagnostic tools, i'd just set their profiles in bios, use super tight timings on TM5, run the core cyclers overnight, and by morning, i could look at the logs and tell you which is which.

And finally, there's a reason if you go to amazon, and look at higher CL ram that's been listed for several months, they show a notice/warning saying this product has a high rate of return.

Bro. Memory timing makes a big difference in FPS games.

It's never about avg FPS. It's about reducing the cache missing impact and 0.1% lows. IMO Memory is the only differentiating factor for a modern system's performance.

I am talking about competitive advantage, when money can't buy you better CPU or GPU. You can assume that you already have top of the line of CPU and GPU. Money is less of the issue here. You are making me regret spending the time sharing knowledge when the audience just couldn't follow. Anyway you might not be the target consumer of the low timing RAM. In this case there shouldn't be any difference for you and I agree money is better spent else where.

Novice here, recently got a Dell Aurora R16 with 32GB RAM, how can I check if this will be compatible? I'm thinking of upgrading to this RAM

No ones buying 64gb ram for gaming. The faster timing is harder at the larger capacities and basically impossible if you try to use 4 sticks.

For a novice this might be overkill, but check out pcpartpicker.com. Find your motherboard and you can check for compatible RAM.
