I second the unicorn project. It aligns so much with my current IT position that it helped blueprint steps needed to correct things. Very good read for any IT professional

Some people read about people doing and others go out and do. If this is will be past your 3rd book before building and deploying something end to end - go do that before reading another book. You'll get more out of the books you read too.

Just passing on advice i wish i heard earlier

It's essentially a retelling of the Phoenix Project from more of a Dev perspective. I preferred the Phoenix project (although my background was more in line with the protagonist in that one), but both are worth a read or listen. The Goal (which they're both ultimately based on) is also worth it as both Phoenix & Unicorn are really just about applying agile which is really just applying lean manufacturing concepts to software delivery.

desperately trying to get away from full-stack / front-end BS

Somewhat depends on your background and interest. It was written before agile became common although many places still run waterfall (or say they run agile, but really just renamed legacy processes).
