I own the Q990D, and while it's amazing, it's main feature is 120 Hz. The sound quality is basically identical.

Just gonna be honest here. When I used dolby atmos for the first time on my s21 Ultra, I was blown away with the immersion coming from the phone. When I bought this and used it for the first time, I was not blown away. It's really good, and it's amazing how you get front surround sound with a sound bar, but to me, it just sounds like a really good 5.1 instead of the 11 channels they claim. Not a bad price though. It rivals my old Bose accoustimas paired with a Sony receiver.

While watching a movie it keeps sounding like the subwoofer turns off at low volumes to save power. Is this a setting somewhere or do I possibly have a bad sub?

I'll definitely keep your thoughts in mind while I test it out this weekend. I currently have a 5.1 Vizio System that I got used 2.5 years ago so I'll definitely be comparing them.

I will say that your thoughts seem to go against the general consensus for this soundbar but are still very valid.

Everything I've read is if you want something better you either have to spend $2500+ or build out your own system which would cost significantly more than $700.

We shall see, if I'm not impressed then I'll definitely send it back and keep my Vizio because I've been happy with it.

Room size, wall placement, and a lot of other factors will change things, but here are my settings:

Turn Q-Symphony off, if you have a Samsung TV.
Sound Mode: Standard
EQ: 150 > +6, 300 > +4, 600 > +2, 1.2k > 0, 2.5k > +2, 5.0k > +4, 10k > +6 (it should be a V shape)
Spacefit Sound: On
Advanced Sound Settings > Bass enhancement: On
Hamburger Menu > Device Settings > Channel Level > Center: +4

Everything else not listed is either off or 0.

Watch something and make sure your subwoofer isn't turning off, then back on after a few seconds.
