Just a FYI, the GN400iM is not carb compliant and not for sale or use in California, otherwise it's identical to the GN400i.

I own the CARB complaint one bought it during the pandemic. It's come through during the summer black outs here which was happening all the time. It is really heavy so you better lift if you're going to own this or buy those ply wood on casters. It does vibrate a lot even with the rubber feet, also loud just like most open frame generators. The fuel capacity is very small and it's a gas guzzler. So don't expect to run it for a very long time without shutting off to refuel even in eco-mode which is still loud as well.

This appears to be a great deal. I have 2 Wen generators and try to run them once a month. Had them for about 2 years with no problems. One is a 2.2K and the other 8.7K. Only had to use them 2 times so far due to short (about 8-12 hour) power outages where I worried about the food in the freezer and frig. Think I paid about this price for my 2.2K unit.

Hi all! We bought a house that had a transfer switch set up, the box outside has a L14-20 plug. I've been looking at generators since we lose power pretty often here. I noticed that most of these inverter generators have a '120V RV-ready TT-30R receptacle'. Can I buy an adapter like this and connect the transfer switch box to the generator (https://www.amazon.com/AC-WORKS-A...rReviews)? Or because it calls it a RV-ready TT-30R does it mean strictly for RV use? Our transfer switch is set up for the basics (furnace, fridge, lights) Any advice is appreciated. Smilie

I am planning to do this as well, but instead of an adapter I am thinking to buy a cable that is TT-30P on one end and L5-30R on the other end to work with my setup.

The manual states "For power outages, permanently installed, stationary generators are better suited for providing backup power to your home. Even a properly connected portable generator can become overloaded. This may result in overheating or stressing the machine's components, possibly leading to generator failure." However there are many reviews on Amazon of people using it for home backup. It goes without saying that if everything connected to your transfer switch exceeds the generators capability then this is not for you.

Interestingly the Amazon page states: "The WEN 4000-Watt Inverter Generator is a great option for home backup power during outages. It produces clean power to safely operate sensitive electronics and appliances."

Update: Received my generator in 2 days. Got it set up and a few hours into the break in period. Louder than anticipated but overall Im pretty happy with it. I did order a magnetic oil fill dipstick for it.

This unit got me thru the deep freeze in 2021 in Houston, Tx. Ran 7 days with no issues. Maintenance is essential. For the price you can't beat it.

It should work, but it wont be able to power anything that is 240 volts, because the generator is 120 only.

Any 240V load would not get power.

Any 120V load should function.

Any multiwire branch circuit would risk having an overloaded neutral.
