I was just in Osaka and it is a quick train to Kobe.
The local grocery store has A5 for like US$10-$20 a pound, depending on the cut.
The American Beef Rib-Eye there cost more... importing cranks up the price, I guess.

Good for cooking in the microwave - well done, of course.

On a serious note, do they have A5 Wagyu year round on the website even at full price? I thought it was a random thing, but kind of sounds like it may be regular if they have a "sale" price.

Cheaper to fly to Japan and have a feast there. Seriously though, gets tiresome after a while. After eating a bunch of wagyu, I just wanted beef with a chew and medium rare flavor. A5 is too tender and no beef flavor.

You might as well hire some chef to cook this for you because if you mess it up it'll be an expensive mistake.

I've only had A5 in restaurant, not cooked at home, but I would - and have - opt for, and feel more satisified, by 2 oz of Wagyu (for same price) as 8oz filet usda prime.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of A5 Wagyu. Mostly because there is almost nothing to chew. Now, I did have some Australian Wagyu recently that was amazing. It had amazing marble but still had a meaty chew to it.
