This is only in SD quality, you would think they would at least release the HD version at some point since the show is pretty popular.

Not saying your version isn't HD, but you should be aware that bluray doesnt automatically mean HD. You could put anything on a bluray.

Omg thanks for that. Almost bought this instantly because I'm such a big fan but would've been highly disappointed due to the dub. I will never understand why people watch dubbed version of anime. To each their own I guess!

You bet. It's like the Death Note and Cowboy Bebop deals on iTunes every month or so. $5 seems too good to pass up until you realize there isn't a luck of Japanese in any of them. Smilie

Probably because we don't pretend to be Japanese and prefer to enjoy the show without having to read subtitles the whole time.

I heavily dislike dubs, but I get these anyway for shows I love. I play them in the background, and it's nice to have for long flights where I don't want to pay complete attention. Still wish it was subbed, but the dub has its own value.

The Blu-ray (which I own) is just an upscale of the SD version. Samurai Champloo wasn't animated traditionally on film, so it will always be "stuck" in SD. The only reason I bought the Blu-ray was for the high bit rate lossless audio (english and japanese).

The Blu-ray is upscaled from SD to HD. It is okay, something near 720p, but certainly not true 1080p source material. For $5, this is a pretty good price, considering the Blu-ray was considerably more. It does contain both the dub and the original Japanese. I only listen to Dubs generally, as I would buy the manga if I wanted to read, but as another poster commented, "To each their own, I guess!"

For some people dubs have a nostalgic value. Shows I watched on Toonami growing up I still do the dub when I rewatch.
