20% deal was better at the end of June. These prices are exactly the same whether you have a promo or not. So not sure where this deal is valid (departure city restricted?).
It's kinda bizarre. Google Flights began showing Southwest Airlines in their search results and their flight options show the same exact fare as if I went to Southwest's website myself, typed in the promo code, and selected the cheapest flight.

If you needed any further proof that this isn't really a "deal"...
The problem with not flying WN is that we get to fly with fools like these, who categorize people based on their choices of airlines.

Wait a minute....

Or just that they are on sale for a few days. Other airlines change their prices for a few days often as well.

The app rarely makes you put in the promo code as well

Yes, departure city restrictions suck and only certain flights seem to have the discounted rate - most are still regular prices.

I saw exactly the same thing. The 20% off was a better price and their "40%" off is the same price it's been since June. The cities I am looking at are part of this promo. It just shows an inflated base fare that never existed.

Still not a bad value prop if you need baggage and have some flexibility with travel. WN service is better than most legacy carriers IMHO.

Do you want a 747 for domestic flights? Also if this is an issue just pay up for first on a mainline. You can afford it right?

Been following SW flights also and can confirm, this really isn't a deal as well. Cruise ships often have "Sales" that end on a specific date and are no better than everyday deals. Not saying this is always true, but sometimes the "deals" are just a gimmic!

Wish southwest would open low cost hotels in Hawaii lol and discount the whole thing, I mean staying there costs way too much.

I searched before putting the code in and then searched with the code and the fair was raised when using the promotion code. I'm aware of fare buckets and how they work. So basically when the code is entered, the fare changes to higher cost in order to get the 40%.
It's a promotion, but not a deal.

" The fares displayed below are lower than those available with the promotion code."

Alaska Airline was still cheaper for me for flight to HNL in October. Looks like the sale prices are regular prices. Just inflated the prices. Shame on SW.

I just did a search and can confirm this is no deal. This ain't 40% off, just normal price inflated 40% with a 40% off coupon.
