The system as configured will pull less than 300W even with every component running a stress test at the same time. Realistically you can run a 4070 Super, probably even a 4070 TI Super, on that power supply no problem. The CPU is 130W max, and the rest of the system is probably 50W max. That leaves 330W of room, and a true gold rated PSU should have no problem running close to it's rated wattage indefinitely. Plus actual power usage while doing ACTUAL tasks doesn't get anywhere near the max power draw of all components combined.

I don't understand why everyone thinks they'll need 750-1000W for some theoretical "future upgrade". Components are getting more efficient, not less.

At $850, this is NOT a good deal.

The power supply is listed at 500W, meaning you can never upgrade the GPU without also buying a new power supply.

There have been dozens of other posts for very similar systems that provide way more headroom and often for less money.

Yes, based on the specifications provided:

- Intel Core i5-14400F processor
- GeForce RTX 4060 GPU
- 16GB DDR5 RAM
- 1TB PCIe SSD
- Windows 11 Home 64-bit

The price of $849.99 for the Acer Gaming Desktop Nitro 50 N50-656-UR15 is quite competitive and appears to be a good deal. Here's why:

1. **CPU and GPU**: The combination of the Intel Core i5-14400F and GeForce RTX 4060 should provide excellent gaming performance for both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. The RTX 4060 is a capable GPU from Nvidia's latest lineup, offering features like ray tracing and DLSS for enhanced graphics.

2. **RAM and Storage**: 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe SSD are robust specifications that ensure smooth multitasking, fast loading times, and ample storage space for games and applications.

3. **Operating System**: Windows 11 Home 64-bit is the latest version of Windows, providing security updates, performance improvements, and a modern user interface.

4. **Value**: Compared to building a similar system yourself, this pre-built desktop offers convenience, warranty support, and potentially savings, especially considering current component shortages and price fluctuations.

Overall, at $849.99, this Acer Nitro 50 model appears to be a solid choice for gamers and users seeking a powerful desktop for gaming and productivity tasks. Always consider checking customer reviews for any specific feedback on performance and reliability to ensure it meets your expectations.

You'll pay about $800 for the CPU, GPU, RAM, NVME, PSU, and a decent motherboard. That leaves $50 for the case and a Windows license. So this isn't a terrible deal if you don't want to build yourself (and you want some form of customer support for a year). I wouldn't say it's anything special though.

Would something like this be sufficient to play last gen games on max settings? Arkham Knight, RDR2, Assassin's Creed Unity, etc. I see youtube videos of those games on new pc's and they look absolutely incredible. I missed out on a ton of games last gen and if I'm gonna catch up, I'd rather on PC than consoles to get the best experience.

I would just like clarify - you won't upgrade to something like a 4070, but I would absolutely expect you could upgrade to a future 5060/6060 with a 500w PSU. The x60 series has always been pretty light on the power consumption needs.

I almost never see prebuilts under $1000 that have:
  • 650W + PSU
  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB M2
  • RTX 4060
And maybe I'm just not looking hard enough! But it's usually a matter of "Well, it's cheap, but you'll have to add your own RAM to it".
That said, adding RAM/storage is always easier than replacing the PSU. Not familiar with Acer, but looking at some quick youtube, it seems like the PSU can be swapped out fairly easily.

IMO, if you are thinking about upgrading the GPU, you would not be even interested in a pre-built system like this. Someone already clarified the power consumption issue. There are a lot of discussions about how much power you need in a system. This system has enough power for the setup. If you are not sure about the price and details of a prebuilt system like this, you can use pcpartpicker.com. This website is great for a PC builder. You can plug in the specs in the system and get pretty good ideas about how much you can save money and what the typical amount of power you need.
I always have updated systems I want to build on pcpartpicker.com. With the specs of this system, I get about $1000 (of course, with better parts IMO). So, it is a good deal considering that you don't need to worry about all the building and installing OS.

I would recommend against this one simply based on what I've seen of the Acer Nitro 50 computers. I can't speak to this specific one, but the last generation (same exact case, albeit with a 12th or 13th gen intel CPU and a 3xxxx series Nvidia GPU) had a cheap OEM motherboard in a non-standard form factor and a garbage CPU cooler that was similar to the intel stock cooler. The case is your standard low end OEM fare - a decades old design of dull gray pot metal with the exterior plastic panels designed to make it look more modern.

This is coming from someone who is currently using a prebuilt gaming computer with a similar design philosophy (mine is a Lenovo), so take it for what it's worth. My next machine will be either one I build myself or something from a system integrator that uses standard parts. I get tired of working around the limitations built into these prebuilt systems.

However, if you're a person that wants to plug-and-play and will never mess with the bios (which is just as well since it will probably never be updated anyway) or do any sort of upgrade or part swap, this might do the trick. It probably won't perform as well as better-built machines using even the same parts (due to thermal throttling and the like), but the differences may be unnoticeable to the end user.

The one thing I don't know is how reliable these machines are or how Acer Group's warranty service is.

Just from the thumbnail the case looks really small, it probably cannot support anything hotter than a 4060. I would pay more for a better case especially if you like upgrading plus it will probably get really hot if not cleaned often. After buying a case with basic dust filters and seeing no performance loss after years I cannot help but picture this thing covered in dust and throttling after a while.

if you build a pc yourself, you can get basically the same performance for about $600. here is a pc build that i just made that runs about $650 (if you buy it right now, wait for deals you can get it for $600) and is basically the same performance as this pc: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WRqvrv
Good budget build, besides having a 5600x over the 5600, I have this setup as my media pc. It is very capable at 1080/1440 gaming as well. CP2077, Lords of the Fallen and Elden Ring all run at 1440p at give or take 100 fps. The 7600 supports FSR3 and frame generation so you will get some longevity, the only con being the 7600 only has 8 gigs of vram.

I would take this config over the prebuilt everyday. Another $30 will get you 32 gigs of ram, and for another 50 you can up the ssd to 2tb. Even after these extra upgrade, you are still saving yourself $130 and getting very similar performance while also allowing future upgrades.
