Speed Queen is one of the most reliable and strongest machines. However they aren't designed to be lookers or show-stoppers in a laundry room which is what a lot of the market is. Simple. Strong. Serviceable (should you need it)

It's not actually small when you consider that you can use 100% of that capacity.

Compared to a front loader where you're not supposed to load it more than 50%. Or a top loader where with the disc thingy that you're not supposed to cover and can only hold about 50% of stated capacity when loaded properly.

I'm not in a position to drop 2k on a washer/dryer but I do need to change mine out in the next year or two. Hoping to snag a deal like this at that time. All the research I've done indicates this is the brand to get.

The entry level, smaller capacity consumer mechanical units by Whirlpool and Maytag are also very robust and easy to work on. Most parts on these washers are cheap and interchangeable. Always get a top load with agitator. They clean better and run much longer. The higher capacity is harder on the motor, belt, transmission and wear out faster. Moisture on the units with PC boards corrodes connections over time. When you wash a comforter, always take it to a laundromat. And don't overload your washer. It's very hard on the moving parts. With a dryer - same thought. Don't overload, and make sure your ventilation is clean to the outside. If your dryer isn't drying, check your vent hose.

Had our SQ set for 8 years now. No issues at all. Just recently had a belt that was slipping and it turned out there was a sock stuck between the inner bin and outer. It's a beast and just keeps on working. Simple to fix and clean too.

Dryer… the only issue was right away… the element wasn't soldered correctly and they shipped out a new one and I easily installed it. Been fine ever since.

I can't speak for these models but I have a combo vertical machine for six years now with no issues. My one complaint is I still don't know where to put the money in as it looks like it belongs in a laundromat. It cost $3k with installation. I'm limited to space and last had Maytag and GE models. Neither lasted. My SQ came with a 5 year IN HOME warranty as well as a prorated 25 year total warranty. It's built like most U.S. appliances used to be.

While we don't have this particular model ours is the same capacity. It is definitely on the smaller side and that's probably the only gripe we have with the unit.

I have Amana washer and dryer which I got it for $250 each and is still going strong after 10 years. Guess SQ will have to wait till it dies.
