I bought two of the Stokke chairs about 20 years ago for my kids. We have actually continued to use them as chairs. I am sitting in one right now as I type. My 20 year old daughter also uses hers as a chair at the dinner table. I am a smaller person, yes, but I like it better than the too deep dining chairs. Ours didn't come with all of the stuff, it was just the two boards and a nylon strap thing for when they were very young. The only issue I have had is that the protective plastic glides on the bottom wore off with all of the use on tile. I used some small appliance glides (stick on) that I got from Amazon to replace them.
We have two and had tried a few others before this (peg perego, Nuna, a cheap graco). This has been the best we have tried. It is expensive but the adjustability is great as our kids get older. Currently a 1.5 YO uses the tray and our 2.5 YO is pulled up to the table. As they grow we can adjust the seat and foot rest incrementally lower until they are ready for a real chair. It's very possible there are other chairs with the same features but these work well for us. I do think they are stupid expensive but I got tired of wasting time and money on other chairs just to save a few bucks. I fully expect each of our kids to use these for 5+ years so even if this is $100 more than another option it's only $20/yr. The cost of daycare makes everything feel cheap in comparison.
Beyond junior y high chair by abiie is basically the same thing but a fair bit cheaper

This is a very impractical high chair. I don't know why it's so highly rated. You're not going to use the baby stuffs after they're no longer babies. Get something that is useful right now. I really like the Graco Blossom. Sturdy and very functional. Don't get the cheaper Graco, built quality is not the same. Or if you go out a lot get a lightweight portable high chair.

This looks like something that would have held a flat crt TV, your Xbox 360 and all your dvds back in 2006

Wish we had used those seats that hook to the table for our babies instead of these huge expensive things

We have two Inglesinas (that hook onto the table) and like them but they don't grow with your kids, they don't have a step for feet which is apparently important for kids when seated, and kids can't get in and out of them on their own (at least not safely). I do like the Inglesinas but they are used sparingly compared to our Tripp Trapps.

We received one as a gift and it wasn't practical compared to the much cheaper Graco. People either love or hate these and I am more in the latter category. Our kiddos would throw themselves back against the chair when upset, hurting themselves in the process. I am sure they sell another attachment at a marked up cost to address this but Graco chair is simple and effective with no add ons. Does it look as good as the trip trappe, nope but that doesn't make a lick of difference to me.

One other note on the growing with kids. It's a innovative way to keep the chair functional but once our guy graduated from a height chair he was in a regular chair with a booster seat and then nothing. That time went by super fast as he grew like a weed.

What makes it impractical? We have 2 and never had an issue.

For my first, I would have never bought this myself but I got one as a gift. It's been great for my first. It's been practical and nice for us. Couple years later she still uses it as it is designed to grow with your child. For my second I would buy one.
I'd do your own research and see if it will work for you and your child.

I don't think you understand the chair. It's a high chair that grows with the kid. You can adjust multiple parts as your child grows. It's also very easy to clean and very sturdy. I bought mine second hand after going through a couple other more affordable chairs and this was the best by far. I also don't understand why it's so expensive but it's definitely practical.

It's wood with minimal paddings for the little ones. Small tray compared to a Graco. No wheels. The Graco blossom, is super sturdy, comfortable padding, has wheels so you can move it around, has a big tray and a little tray, and it comes with a separate booster so essentially two separate seats. Kids will not want to sit on their baby chair when they're older. That's why I say it's impractical. It looks nice, but you get a lot more use out of a regular high chair.

This is apples to oranges when it comes to aesthetics. Some folks with kids still want to have a piece of furniture that looks good instead of the big plastic Graco ones. To each their own!

We got one used for our toddler and it worked great. Then we used it for our second kid as a baby high chair and learned the harness is incredibly infuriating. It's a huge pain to adjust sizing and is far too difficult to undo than what is necessary.

Great toddler chair. Terrible baby/infant chair.
