Tbh this particular unit will likely be sold out by then since this is a clearance item. Release of the 5090 might serve to drive down prices of these previous gen units even further tho. If you can wait, I recommend it.
The current firmware on the Legion Tower 7i supports XMP profiles. I'm currently running Corsair Vengeance 96 GB RAM at 6000 MHz CL30 on mine. The factory installed 32 GB memory (using 2 x DIMM slots) will run at 5600 MHz if set to Boost in the BIOS on the latest firmware.
Excellent deal. Bought it when it included Windows Pro. Stacked ID.Me discounts and (non-SD) cashback brought the price down to $1650. I was waiting to build my own but have no regrets. Runs cool and quiet. No gaming but 3D modeling and animation, video editing, self-hosted AI. The slowest component on this PC is me.

How likely will a similar Lenovo desktop be under $1800 during Black Friday?
I've been wanting one but don't mind waiting until then.
Thank you!

Is there really no workaround to the slow RAM speed?

Care to share how you got it from $2100 to $1650?

If you do not like to tinker or overclock it's a pretty good deal. I've seen $300 better from Dell but that was ~2 months ago

Ram will typically max at its rated speed. Once produced in batches each stick is tested to determine what speed it can qualify at as a pair and that's what it's sold as.

Personally I'd be more concerned with the processor failing. the 14900k's have about a 10% fail rate currently, same with the 13900k's.

I usually love Lenovo Legion - but beware... The BIOS is locked, so you won't be able to change memory settings etc. So don't worry about adding faster ram, you will never be able to enjoy it.

I actually owned the 13900K version of this with the RTX 3080, and it was a beast of a gaming machine. I paid around $1900 - $2000 for it in cash, from a kid who got it as a graduation gift May 2023. Very quiet and powerful. Zero issues. This is a smoking deal for $2100 in my eyes.
