It works perfectly well. I have a 1TB SanDisk U3 card that I run all my high end games from (on original 64GB Steam Deck). IIRC, the Deck caps at 104 MB/s transfer rate (U1), but I would still recommend getting a card that is U3.

Personally i would rather upgrade the ssd than to insert an expensive microsd for expansion. My 1TB microsd got bricked by my steamdeck and apparently it happens to a lot of people. Just look up "Steam Deck superblock brick." I'm not the only one.

I think the main issue is that the Steam Deck is a terrible device to do the initial formatting on. My first 1TB was immediately useless the day I got it, so I did a return/exchange on Amazon and got a second one (which I formatted on my computer and have had no issues ever since).

As long as you do your first format on a real computer, you shouldn't have any issues.

Also, SSD prices are getting so cheap, might as well do both. 1TB internal, 1TB SD card. Best of both worlds.

(Side note, I searched "Steam Deck superblock brick" and nothing comes up. Not sure if you meant a different word other than superblock, but I couldn't find anything).

Yeah I actually already upgraded the internal drive to a 1TB... The backlog is huge and I'm a data hoarder lol

Does anyone know if this is good for continuous recording for security cams?

Incase anyone is interested. SanDisk has a 1.5 TB micro SDXC card for 83.59.
Works on Switch and probably would do well for steam deck. https://a.co/d/97826ud

SSD prices for the deck have been kinda flat for like a year, even going up in some cases.
