This is now showing an additional $100 off coupon, at least for me, on the space black model.

Is $1899 the all time low so far for this model?

While not ideal, I wouldn't call the specs useless. 8GB RAM with 256 GB SSD will be "okay" for most people.
And a $650 M1 MacBook Air would be okay for those people.

At the $2k price point, it's just unacceptable.

512gb at 2k is just disrespectful. Like apple users should feel personally attacked r worded... Blatant disrespect
It's not that big of a deal. Most people are keeping their stuff in the cloud anyways. I use both Win11 and MacOS daily, I wish I could do everything I needed on MacOS. Win11 is a pretty terrible OS compared to 10 and is built to spy on you with less user control than ever. MacOS is almost worth the high price tag for the OS alone.

Almost.

And this is why Apple keeps getting away with this is because you guys keep not seeing a problem with selling a $2,000 laptop with 512 gigabytes of storage... Let's see you buy an iPhone 64 GB of storage on it in 2024 and then pull this cloud nonsense... It's a sham it's robbery it's disrespectful...

But yet the market keeps deciding, again and again and again, that this is the best choice for a huge set of the generation population (in the case of iPhone) or a small subset of the population (in the case of MacOS).

Go figure... it's almost like Apple is a for-profit company and has someone doing some cost and pricing (profit) optimizations to figure out how to do pricing...hmmm....

Yes, I am asking you how you are measuring that and why you think running a few browsers puts you at 20GB used.
Because I am quite literally measuring it. I can measure RAM, CPU, GPU utilization via the Stats app from GitHub.

I know what I am doing, and can see which processes are eating up the most RAM. All browsers.

I always buy the base model iPads, storage-wise and use less than 32GB. I have an m1 pro with 128GB and before had 64GB, it wasn't an issue ever. I could not get by with 64GB on a phone, or even 128GB though.

I build my own PCs and put 512GB as the boot/main drive along with 4-5TB for movies, tv shows, and a metric ton of games. I keep my documents on my main 512GB and backups in the cloud and on a little portable SSD. Storage is nowhere near as important as it once was for most users. If you require 2+TB of storage on a Mac or PC, you're using it for work, which should probably be funding it.

Now, ram? 8GB still on the base Airs is not enough honestly. And for $2000 we should be getting 32GB max. But, no, I don't really have a problem with the storage.

when did storage a concern for purchasing laptops ? users worry about CPU,GPU, battery, display and reliability. there are tons of cheap storage options available . 16.2" pros are expensive but their build quality is unmatched . apple pricing on memory upgrades is a marketing gimmick . those who don't like to pay for screen can upgrade memory and buy 14" pro for lot cheaper. or buy entry level pro and get an external storage or NAS.

From your broken English I'm going to just let this conversation go because clearly you don't understand the concept I'm trying to lay out here...

Move along, Apple basher! You can teach English elsewhere. For now, read others' comments and enhance your tech knowledge!
