I imagine the large majority of AMD users are still on AM4, and many of those are running low-end Zen 2 CPU's that would see a huge performance boost in multithreaded apps.

This is an awesome deal for an incredible processor for any program that uses all threads. I upgraded from a 3700x to this and love it!

A beast!!! I'm a casual gamer and I love it. There is nothing this processor can't handle.

The 7900X3D is 327 dollars right now. There's no reason to get the 5950X unless you're already on am4 and don't want to do a full upgrade imo

This thing runs hot, not recommended with budget heatsinks.

This or the 7900x3d? Productivity is more important than gaming.

I wouldn't buy this chip unless you are updating an AM4 rig with a lesser cpu. If you need to build a new computer I would go AM5.

If you're just gaming, a drop-in 5700X3D upgrade makes a lot of sense for $200 or less as well.

Terrible deal unless you're in desperate need of a drop in CPU replacement. I've seen PCs with a GPU at fair prices. My 12900k bundle was a much better deal than this and performance is similar, but at least my intel CPU can transcode video.

Didn't we recently see 7900X3D deals? It's faster and the same price on sale.

Bonkers.

I don't get it. Guess REDDIT has infected slickdeals now.

The 5950X is a great processor, I don't think anyone is saying it isn't but at this point. it's the same price as the 7900X3D which is better in every way is on the AM5 platform for future-proofing.
