I had a "lifetime" version of this that stopped working after an OS re-install.
In the five years I used it it never found anything.
Windows is fairly secure these days.
Security guru Rob Braxman said to avoid AV apps because they have elevated privileges and are too risky (and they do the spying).

You just need to contact the company to have your original license converted to a new license. I had like 5 of those lifetime codes for family from back in the day. Still use three of those to this day!
