Same price at Costco with a second year warranty.

I'm looking at this 15 inch M3 with 16GB and 512GB SSD. It is $1499 at Amazon and Costco. Is this likely the best deal on it for the next few months? Or at what price should I be looking for?

It gets tricky as officially MacBooks just don't go on sale....and even if you wait for a certified refurb you may be waiting FOREVER for it to hit Apple's site and for it to be at near the same sale price you saw for a new one right now.

Personally I would just buy it and enjoy your life. As I type on a 13 inch MBA my only regret is not going w/a 15''. Fine on a table but awful when just trying to type on my lap or in a bed. I miss my old MBP's size. Outside of that....best device I ever used for non-work purposes Smilie

Since M2 15inch 16 512GB was at $1350 for like 5 months before being discountinued, that is likely the retail bottom for M3 but probably not til BF.

If you are looking out of necessity then don't let $150 stop you, that is like $0.10 a day if you keep it for 4 years.

If no urgent need then always a better price/newer model around the corner.

Good to know about the 13" vs 15". 13" seemed a bit small to me, but I've been fine with my 12.9" iPad Pro for years now. But I like your perspective that it's only about a dime more per day if I have the computer for 3-4 years (which is my plan). I constantly have multiple apps running simultaneously with windows open, so I think the extra 2" would make a difference in the long run.

Its crazy to spend this much money for only 8GB of memory. Even $200 Chinese phones come with more RAM that Macbooks. Its my opinion, and I am gonna mention this each time. But its your money to spend

This is the reason why Apple still makes 8GB verision. They love customers like you. Keep empowering their shitty practices. If it wasnt for Samsung and other competition in general, iPhone user would still be using their 3.5" Super-Pooper Retina LCD screens lol.

Their shitty practices of.. charging more than you'd like to pay? Feel free to not buy….
My first iPhone was 14 Pro Max, paid $1,300. You know why? Because it had a Pro-Motion, its super practical in any screen and makes the experience better. Once they felt the pressure, they at lease included in their Pro line-up. They are following the same sales strategy with Macbooks. Enjoy your 60hz LCD screen, 8GB memory and a pointless notch.

Two big things to always consider:

OSX doesn't use memory in the same way that Windows does. You quoted an Android device....THAT doesn't use memory in the same fashion that OSX or Windows does as well. All three are different OSs

This model - specifically it being an Air - is meant for the 99% of users and not the 1% who would require a much stronger device. It would be sucide for Apple to continuously release a base model at this spec if it didn't "work".

For you this may be an insult of a spec. For the vast majority (and the base model MBA is Apple's best selling MacBook, just to note) this is more the enough for the next 5-7 years. It's an Air and not a Pro. NOW, if you deem yourself a "Pro" and are using 8GB on the MBP line....bless your heart Smilie

Just don't get an 8GB device. It's only good for light web browsing, which you can do fine on a $300 ipad. You won't be happy with it in a year. OSX is way faster on 16GB. It's worth the extra money.

Tens of thousands of positive reviews from actual users disagree. My M1 with 8GB is still as fast as the day I got it with dozens of browser tabs and a dozen different programs running. Apple Silicon is just that much more efficient.

This. If you are an average user, you dont need even need to spend much on a laptop. As you said, $500 Chromebook will be a better value. No excuse, any laptop above $500 should have at least 12GB RAM and 256GB SSD NVME
