6 year old platform, 6 generations behind the current Intel CPUs. Unless you have a very specific use case, just don't.

As a general use computer, 128 gb storage is fine

It's a general use computer with good speed and lots of memory (for a Mac). Sure it's not a lot of storage but come on, are we really nitpicking the age of cpu for a reliable Mac?

I mean to be totally frank, I would say that for most people, a base m1 Mac mini would be a better purchase, and has been available for the same price.

Hard agree. I can't imagine a circumstance where I'd want this instead.

Complete unknown how long intel Mac's will carry macOS support.

Could be next year, could be 5 years or more.

I have a 2012 iMac that I use every day to print labels for my Etsy store. It does YouTube, email, plays 32 bit games, and can even run Photoshop/Illustrator without issues (albeit CS6.)

I'm not especially concerned with being up to date with the current OS, most of the changes seem to be cosmetic or to brick old devices. If my iMac died tomorrow I would pull the trigger on this deal in a second, especially considering it's only like 200 more than what I paid about 10 years ago. I have a 2019 MBP that I hope to also get 10+ years out of (My 2009 MBP got me here).

Keeping what you have, I totally understand.

If you need a new machine, it's not so clear.

a brand new m2 mac mini (albeit with 8gb) will do all of those things, and get macos upgrades and new features for many more years, has a 1 year applecare warranty, for ~18% more than this Mac mini.

Nothing wrong with this machine, but I think most use cases are better off going m2. If someone needs the ram and is ok with the lack of potential support, then it will be a fine machine.
