You'll be charged $50.00 (plus applicable taxes) by Newegg today for the first 15 months of your Microsoft 365 Family subscription. Activate your subscription at Microsoft365.com/setup. Beginning from the date you activate your subscription, Newegg (acting as an agent of Microsoft Corporation) will automatically charge your payment card $88.99 (plus applicable taxes) every 12 months to continue your subscription. Microsoft Corporation will notify you prior to each renewal, as well as before any price changes. To stop future charges, turn recurring billing off at any time by going to the Services & Subscriptions tab in your Microsoft account (account.microsoft.com). Previously, I had only standalone, non-subscription versions of Office. But after purchasing my initial, 15-month subscription to O365 Family from Dell for like $120 or so (the one that expires at the end of this month), I started paying attention to the O365 subscription deals/sales because Dell seemingly never offered them. So the idea was to add one of these 40%-50% off subscriptions to my existing Dell one to extend it.
But as I read through all the threads, the idea that emerged was that there are generic versions of the O365 subscription and specific, vendor-linked ones. If one had a generic version (AntOnline apparently sells this), then the key could be registered directly via one's Microsoft account. But if one had a vendor-linked version like from Dell or Amazon, one had to do all the management through that specific vendor. Indeed, I can see this with my current Dell-linked version that will expire at the end of this month. If I log into my Microsoft account, I can see the existence of the O365 Family subscription. But I can't do anything significant there and it immediately steers me back to the Dell website, where they have something called Software Vault or similar to store software licenses/purchases.
Anyway, the message that came through was that to stack any subscriptions, they had to be of the same style or they would not extend a current subscription, they would replace it, or more likely, sit beside it in parallel. For example, with my O365 subscription through Dell, only a direct purchase through Dell could extend it. If I bought an Amazon 15-month promo subscription, it would not extend my Dell one, it would start up a whole new subscription in parallel. So the idea was that the generic versions were preferable because--independent of the vendor from which it was purchased--they could be stacked because they were all generic.
I am happy to find out that I am wrong and that with vendor-linked versions, they can all be stacked on top of one another!

In turn, the 15-month subscription that I ordered from Newegg yesterday evening is not at all like this... I got a "Your Digital Order is Now Ready" e-mail from Newegg where it lists the product key directly, and it steers me to the www.microsoft365.com/setup [microsoft365.com] website for the install download.
So this is why I am suggesting this Newegg one is either generic (despite having autorenew, which can easily be undone) or some type of hybrid model.
Edit: I was corrected. Technically its limited by devices per account. So read the post that quoted me below. I don't share it with anyone. So I have one main account that technically I can install on 5 devices. I would never need to do that. I have it on my laptop and phone. But I can see someone also having a tablet. To take advantage of the extra storage, I create extra accounts , ie. ScottoDono2, ScottoDono3 etc and then I create a shared folder that I share with my main account , ScottoDono. If I wanted a 6th device , I would have to use something other than main, ie ScottoDono2 , but then I can share folders from the main with ScottoDono if there was something I wanted access to
During the process of adding the product key to my existing subscription, I was offered the additional 3 months for enabling auto-renewal. And I allowed it. The onscreen instructions make it clear that you can go into your Microsoft account and disable this anytime before the renewal. Previously, I enabled auto-renewal and was able to easily disable it later.
I'd call this a pretty decent deal. Hope this helps someone!

4 minutes later I received a key via email, and was able to add it to my existing subscription (definitely not from Newegg, I checked my order history).
It applied just fine and extended my subscription 16mo (not a typo: next renewal was 9/1/2024 --> and now is 1/2/2026). It did change my method of payment to the Visa card I used with Newegg which I've never used with MSFT, so Newegg's "seller agent of Microsoft" thing must have passed it along.
I canceled auto-renew, and will find a code in late 2025, or turn auto renewal back on when they send a reminder email if I forgot to find a code. (Adding a reminder to my calendar for 11/1/2025, too).
Thanks again OP and @mikerisner!
