I'd like to state for the record that these are low end machines, and if you're getting into the hobby, you'd be better off with a minelab vanquish, nokta simplex, or minelab Xterra as an entry level machine.

Tempted to get this just to find all the stupid nails that the stupid builder left for me as gifts all over my yard.
There's also a little roller magnet you can buy from hardware stores that do that exact job. I'm somewhat in the industry and have had to use them before. They're worth their weight in gold!
I've been in the hobby two years now and I enjoy it. It is A LOT of physical exertion so I'm definitely a fair weather detectorist. It's a lot like fishing, you need to have patience and manage expectations. That said, I've found a few very cool things.

Thanks. It's too late for that. All the grass is grown. I'm just in awe, in a bad way, of how after so many years I'm still finding roofing nails buried in the grass.

Beginner detectors are a slippery slope. This one is extremely low end entry level. I'd look to get this for a young child. If you think you may take up the hobby, do yourself a favor and find a quality detector to start. It will NOT be $33, but I guarantee you'll want to toss this very quickly if you are at all interested. Check Garrett, Minelab, Notka for good all round metal detectors as suggested above.

I almost never used mine until I was building a shelter and lost a key piece of hardware in the grass. I looked for an hour and couldn't find it until pulling out my metal detector.
