It can be unstable though. Maybe once a year they change some security setting or the server just randomly loses it's mind. It's easy to fix: remove and reinstall from the Play Store. If you haven't been keeping backups you might lose meta data, play history, etc.
All on one box that uses 3-6Watts of power. For comparison the Shield idles at 6-7Watts and goes higher under load.
I'd get a Fire TV 2nd gen Cube over a Shield if I cared about DRM and streaming services. Same processor, same CoreElec playback capabilities as the AM6+, includes support for any streaming service.
I'm sure die hard Shield owners will always have a reason for why HDR10+, VP9.2 and Dolby Vision FEL don't matter. It's just not true that there aren't more capable media boxes out there.
Don't care about Dolby Vision FEL, then there's a list of s905x4 boxes with full AndroidTV DRM support and CoreElec support, for half the price of the Shield.
