The firmware is not being updated by Linksys anymore. It is sorted by OpenWRT in snap shots. So you can have up to date firmware that way.

"Reliable, but average performance". But at this price, you're looking at non-mesh wifi 6 routers so I think this is a great deal.

The Homekit thing is real. I have two of these kits, one I still have on the stock firmware and have had not a single issue, the other in another house we updated the firmware and encountered the homekit issue but once that was disabled it has worked flawlessly again.
