Costco brand should be fine as long as you are changing at regular intervals. Unless you have turbo or one of those expensive exotic cars. Don't lose sleep over it

Just send a sample to Blackstone (Labs, not the griddle people, they'll be confused)…my experience over almost 20 years, with changes intervals from 3k to 12k miles, is their chemical analysis has NEVER told me I overdid it. They always says "spot on" or "you can go longer"

I'm in the long interval camp, just be sure to spend a few bucks more on a good filter than can outlast the oil.

Darn. I recently switched to 5w - 20. I've been buying the Costco brand, but I'm not sure how good it is

Personally, I'd go with cheaper oil but changed more frequently

Surely does if you can find the oil spout. Once you use it in your Tesla, it qualifies for trade in.

"good filter" -- does that include the Toyota OEM? Or are you speaking something else?

In for 3 jugs with S&S. Good deal on good oil with solid certs and approvals. No rebate to mess with. Thanks.

I've been on Fram Ultra for a long time, a lot of different cars. I just bought a bunch of NOS cartridge types off ebay got them super cheap.

I think they were recently changed, and a lot of people are big mad over it. Not sure if it's warranted, but I have enough of them to last me the rest of the life of my cars, so I'm not that worried about it.

Me, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I can't imagine any filter you can find at walmart that wouldn't be fine at 10k, even the regular Fram extra guard (orange can) or the supertech brand. You can also just buy whatever you're comfortable with and change the filter only, if you're paranoid about it.

I don't know which filter you have, but I'd be willing to guess it's fine for 10k miles.

Totally agree, I go 5,000-10,000 miles between oil changes depending on the car or when the oil change service light tells me. I haven't had any problem in over 25 years. It's essential to also get a good filter so it can outlast the oil. Those Purolator PureONE that were so called top of the line from ten years ago, were failing and tearing internally at 3-5k miles, when I cut them open.shake head So make sure you get a good filter. Any synthetic oil with the correct weight for your car is good these days.
