No in the fine print it specifically states direct deposit

Yes it means exactly that. These offers are only to new usb customers that haven't had an account in 12 months or greater. Very common with these offers. The sofi offer I believe is still live and they have better rates in savings acts
I did a few of these deals in 2023 with various banks. After initially rejecting me outright then relenting, US Bank repeatedly gave me wrong information, CSRs would change terms like underwear. I was certain I would never see a dime of the promotion after watching their behavior over the period they had my money.
But out of the blue, contrary to what I had just been told a couple days prior by a CSR- noticed that the entire promotional funds posted! I beelined to the nearest US Bank branch, pulled it all out and closed the account. I don't know what's going on with this company but they were so fishy and unreliable that there was no way I'd be staying with them. I might be tempted to do this promotion too because they did eventually come through on the last one, but doubt I will.
