Despite being ostensibly an "HDR" monitor, it's really not suited for HDR content. With no local dimming zones, it's not capable of the contrast or selective brightness you'd associate with HDR. It can process the signal, but you wouldn't want to look at it. This is an SDR monitor with nominal and unusable HDR compatibility.

What about for office use, specifically coding? Is this deal slick for that?

I haven't used it, but it's presumably as good for that purpose as any other similarly spec'd IPS display - which is to say, pretty good.

No. The Dell 27" for less than $240 is a much better deal, especially for that purpose.

Pretty lousy deal IMO unless you happen to be in the market for that exact thing. Most people could do better in many ways, including, for example the LG 27UP600 at Best Buy for $220, which has a significantly nicer panel and whose only drawback is lack of usb support, so not great for making it your thunderbolt dock replacement. Look for Dell U series monitors for a better value than this Asus (and they have better service, too).

Edit: Specifically, a good choice might be the Dell U2724D, which can be had off lease on eBay for $250-300.

You cannot under estimate exactly how clear, sharp, and color accurate these monitors are.

Is it the best value for the money? Perhaps not, but it's very easy on the eyes.

I mean.. it'll look brighter than your regular SDR screen and pop more with color in HDR which is nice. However I think they need to get rid of the Display 400 spec and have 600 a minimum requirement with local dimming zones. Splurge on an OLED if possible.

I find it hilarious we're calling this a deal, when according to the Past 90 days, the sale price actually went up $9 from $389.

I have been in the market for 32" version of this. It has great review scores at rtings. I am wondering if this is better than Dell U3223QE that was on sale on EBay yesterday. I use a Mac and mainly use it for office work but some photo/video editing. TIA

Have Dell monitors improved their Mac interoperability in the past few years?

No, it's really for 4K color accurate video editing. It's fine for office use but you can get a much better deal, even on other ProArt displays if you don't need 4K.
