IMO this seems relatively decent after reading a more thorough description at Amazon [amazon.com]. What sold me is that the mousepad has stitched edges which should mitigate fraying and improve longevity.
The surface being infused with glass beads seems pretty funky though and I have a suspicion that the effect/appearance is a bit funky because of it and hence the substantial discount. Hopefully my eyes won't bleed and the aesthetics will be acceptable though...
