Price is good but that might be because of boilergate issue with the boiler coating flaking off. https://coffeeblog.co.uk/boilerga...-problems/

I confirmed today, Friday, July 19, 2024 via Whole Latte Love chat that this specific Gold Gaggia does in fact have the coating that is part of #boilergate.

Gaggia is a solid platform.

Only thing special is the paint job and "this edition of the Evo Pro also comes with a commemorative magnet and poster."

I literally accidentally ordered the NON evo and then couldn't exchange it. I was upset at the time...

No, they have not. They "fix" it by sending an un-coated aluminum boiler which will suffer from galvanic corrosion because of the upgraded brass grouphead.

I got lucky and purchased one before the evo came out (with the boilergate issues). It's been running for 3 - 4 years strong now. Among family we make like 6 lattes a day and it's fun to tune the grinder to get a good shot. I love my machine - sucks to hear they started having issues in the latter models.

Nice link, thanks for posting it. I found this comment on the article saying colored models should include the unlined boiler.

Comment from article:
FYI, I contacted Gaggia North America about how one might buy a machine without the coating, either old stock 2019 model or new stock Evo model made after the coating had been (so I hear) abandoned. (nothing to do with flakes, I just don't use food products with fluoropolymer coatings). I thought others might find their reply useful, from June 27 2024:

"Any of the color versions of the EVO purchased through either Gaggia North America or Whole Latte Love (and Whole Latte Love Canada) will have an unlined boiler. The Stainless Steel version will likely still have the coated boiler. "

What how do you know if yours has the boiler gate issue? I'm hearing about this now.

I've had a few machines over the years. Had a Gaggia Baby Duo at one point (higher end version than this Classic) and currently a DeLonghi Dedica. After upgrading the portafilter on the Dedica (picked up a bottomless portafilter), the Dedica produces way better shots. I've had my Dedica for about 5 years now. Never had any issues - my secret is to never use tap water because of calcium buildup issues.... I've only ever used jugged water in my Dedica.
