The sides stay pretty cool. The top gets hot, but not as hot as other basic toaster ovens we've had. Heat radiates out of the front glass. Enough heat to use it as a space heater in winter.
The menu needs to be used on each use, it remembers no settings. (It takes at least 6 touches to make toast to your preference.)
It toasts very evenly, and should cook other foods evenly, too.
