Techron Complete is what BMW rebrands as their own fuel treatment. It's a must for people that have direct injection engines. I can't speak for the Lucas stuff as I've never used it. BMW recommend it every 3000 miles to prevent carbon buildup.

Chevron techron is the only cleaner I'm aware of that has PEA which is polyethylamine and is a unique chemical that actually works great for periodic maintenance of efficiency. Good price

All modern gasoline has detergents added, this is just a concentrate. If you've ever filled up at a Chevron station, you've already run this stuff through your engine. It is generally considered one of the best in class as far as fuel additives go.
Besides carbon buildup, the damage done by ethanol, particularly as it degrades and becomes gummy, is very real. I've had a stuck fuel gauge that this stuff fixed within 20 minutes of being added. I've also seen it even out a poor idle/possible miss situation presumably due to clogged fuel injectors in surprisingly short order. These things happen.

That's what I did last week when I learned this was a thing. I'm unclear how this product tho would be good for gdi engines specifically... Since it just goes through the fuel tank and not being sprayed over the top of the intake valves.
Yeah, IMO you don't need this for a GDI engine. Stick with a direct intake cleaner, like CRC GDI Intake Valve Cleaner. That's going to be much more effective. These products you pour into your gas tank are okay for port-injected engines, but many would say unnecessary, especially if you use top tier fuel. In port-injected engines, fuel is sprayed into the intake manifold and cleans the intake valves as it passes by. In direct injection engines, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber just before the ignition cycle. This means the intake valves only deal with air, and don't get the cleaning benefit of gasoline. This can lead to buildup of oil and other contaminants from blow-by gases on the valves, reducing airflow and engine performance. An oil catch can (fairly easy to install) can intercept some of these contaminants before they reach the valves, so installing one is a worthy consideration for DI engines.

There is value in using a PEA-based product like this, even with a GDI engine. Fuel injectors can eventually wear/fail, especially if one consistently uses crappy, non-Top Tier fuel. Injectors that drip or have an uneven spray pattern can lead to loss of power, oil washing, and potentially bore scoring.

What they are selling is totally different than this. Both Toyota and Honda offer this injection service and it's a substantially more labor involved thing than just dumping some techron into the fuel tank. Whether you need it is another issue, but the service they are proposing isn't just a high margin tank additive.
I don't believe the service being offered is being offered by Toyota or Honda as some sort of "factory endorsement".

Instead, I believe the dealership service department is offering a service ("fuel injection service") that could be anything, including putting the injectors through some sort of cleaning machine, some sort of cleaning chemical additive to the fuel tank (similar to Techron), changing a fuel filter (is applicable), etc...

The Dealer Service Department is where a LOT of money is made at a dealership...they have a number of ways to screw over consumers and scare tactics to use to sell various services - especially when they are dealing mainly with people who are bringing in their newer vehicles that they just spent $25k+ on!

Remember how hard they used to push "nitrogen" air for the tires....that scam worked for a while, until most consumers realized that the air we breath is ~78% nitrogen...that's just one of many scams.

If the dealerships could figure out how to sell people "Blinker Fluid", they would!

Try a bottle of Guaranteed to Pass additive by CRC. Very high level of PEA. Stuff is magic add to a quarter tank warm up car go on highway and punch it a few times then drive it until it's empty.

Got 3 for ~ $12. Good deal.
How did you get 3 for $12? I can see one for $5.49. So three would be almost $18. Thanks.

I did see a test on the Tube in which a dude used this on a dirty injector and it evened out the spray pattern significantly VS regular gas. He had taken the injectors out and had a machine to simulate the injector spray. .

I went to Napa yesterday and everyone was standing around and customers were all in the store standing around. The lady worker said the "cyber attack" shut us down. I asked if they wanted me to fix them and they said go for it. I fixed 2 of their devices and got the whole store up and running. They all cheered me on like Sully landing on the Hudson. They made me pay for the cleaner though! Cheapies!

The COMPLETE version of this is a different product that's higher concentration. Same product, but this deal is for a more concentrated version of it.
Thanks for the comment! I did some poking around, and it appears the fuel injector cleaner doesn't have PEA while the fuel system cleaner does. I'll get the latter.

Sorry haven't seen your reply till now. I have never had an account with them before. I've shopped at their store probably once in the past, AFAIR. The total discounts I got: - $16.50 Monthly Special and the "Napa Rewards Discount: -$5.00". That is $11.47 + $0.8 Tax = $12.27. Hope this helps.

I used to have WRX with FA20 engine and carbon buildup is their thing. Any gas additive makes little to no difference, your best bet was to install a catchcan/oil separator, good quality gas and walnut blast. However, not to do any of that is fine too, 😂

Not true, i looked at the MsDS for numerous brands that had them publicly available and other brands contain PEA.

Chevron with Techron has changed their formulation over the years abd at certain times it wasn't clear if there was any PEA at all. Presently, it's widely accepted that it does. However, the amount of PEA is unknown as Chevron keeps its magic sauce locked under proprietary bs.

Luckily other brands were transparent in their MsDS.

I found Redline to contain the highest amount of PEA.

The best bang for your buck is Gumout All-in-One. This is what I personally use.
