For those that aren't familiar with this ( I wasn't), this is for an air purifier. I was thinking this could be used for a car

Helpful tip for those that buy these OEM filters, the packaging they come in is pretty flimsy, because of this Amazon often has tons of these marked down a fair bit in their Warehouse Deals (Edit: Now Amazon Resale) as "Used". The filters are still in the original plastic bags, but the boxes are often beat up or missing; not unlike how they tend to arrive when bought "New" in most cases.

The lowest ive seen but i just buy aftermarket ones now, 2 for like 32$. So cheaper than these oems and they work fine

I went out of my way to purchase some random no name brands then did a compare with name brand. Then I lit incense and tested.
IF one is using for smoke such as incense, my unscientific random test cases shows the no name brands performed anywhere from 25% to 50% less efficient -- meaning it took 25-50% longer to clean the air until the system said it was "clean"
Considering the pricing was anywhere from 50-60% cheaper, it's worth the gamble.
Solid yes for no name brands if using for pet hair/general bacteria.
Reluctant recommend if using for smoke or more serious filtering.
I did note that there are very little no name brands for the TOP level of filtering --- where Levoit has a filter + a prefilter that wraps around the filter........... In those situations, I might actually side with Levoit when they have a sale.
Don't give any money to Levoit. They are so bad, they lied about their filters being HEPA certified and offer no customer service. Their latest App basically says you give up any right to complain to dispute an issue with them because of it.

I would think speed of filtering is based on the filter surface area and speed of fan, while whether it filters something or not is simply based on the media being used (i.e. if it allows it pass the first time, it'll continue to allow it to pass.).
At any rate, if generics are 2 for $32 like the other person said, it makes more sense to stock up on the OEM Levoit filters when they go on sale for the same price like it just did.

honestly, I'm not a scientist but I tried to replicate my testing in the exact same manner both times, only exception was different filter. Everything was on auto. It's possible fan ran faster on official filter vs no name brand? But, that's weird. Why would it do that? Anyways, I'm not selling anything, just throwing my two cents. it's whatever. feel free to do your own tests. Cost me about $75 everything said and done...
Levoit filters last a really long time. Assuming the app is correct, the app says I still have 80% and I've been running it on auto when >6ug/m for 9 months now...
