Was able to replicate in SoCal, but not worth it to me. Upload speeds are only 25, 50, 100mbps for the 250/500/1000mbps plans. I currently pay $70 for Google Fiber 1gbps, but get 1gbps both up and down. Cox is charging $60 for the 1gbps plan, but it only comes with 100mbps upload speeds.

I would guess these offers are only in spots where there is a 2nd provider that isn't wireless

I currently have cox, 500mbps ($120 per month) the offers I have are:
lower price by $50, have 250mbps

lower price by $30, still have 500mbps, (no changes, just lower price)

lower price by $10, get double speeds ($10 lower than what I currently pay)
All of cox plans have 1.25Tb data cap (unless you pay for unlimited data)

???
This is why I hate it when companies pull bs like this without informing their customers

About to try welink, 700mbps down, 700mbps up, $70 per month (no data cap)

I have only Cox cable and 5G wireless for Internet, and while I couldn't get fiber, I was able to reduce my monthly bill and increase speed. I wonder if cox is getting hit hard by fiber/wireless.

The weird part is I had to click through 3+ layers of internet plans before this, and on the last page with all the plans, the bottom 3 had the same specs with 3 different prices.

Edit - This is probably to comply with the new definition of broadband (100 down/20 up).

I hope they are getting hit hard, for too long they were the only reliable option and they took advantage of that. Competition is good.

Nice! Thanks for this. I just switched last month to 1gig and unlimited data for $110 a month. This saves me $50 a month with the same package.

Most likely. I had Cox for years because it was the only provider option. I had various promos with them over the years, but as soon as a fiber optic provider came to town I switched. The new provider is faster, has symmetric speeds, less expensive, more reliable, and without data caps. All the sudden Cox has been really interested in luring people back or keeping them with lower rate offers (all temporary, of course, and with data caps, of course). Cox also magically increased the upload rates from 35 mbps to about 100 mbps.

A little competition goes a long way. So now I save about 33% on my ISP bill by having a much better connection than I had before.

Probably because Google fiber is there. I once got hit with a $200 data overage fee when I lived in Irvine. As soon as google fiber was available I canned cox.

Before I switched to google I was paying Cox an extra $49.99 a month to not be charged overage fees.

I was a cox customer for years and they would always charge me extra fees for the internet service. It's been a few months since I changed to Wyred internet... never been happier! Competition is Great for costumers.
