Happened to me man, this shit scares me now. There are gloves you can buy, and there are kitchenaid attachment, I chose the latter.

Use a fork or a chopstick or some form of protection. Mandolin cuts make paper cuts feel like an itch.

It happened to my older brother ages ago too, it was really bad... Since then I just haven't found a need for one (or so I tell myself).
