The problem is that although they establish a Bluetooth connection, the buttons are mapped incorrectly or not at all at least in Android devices. The same is true for SNES switch controllers.
Another potential issue is that they only charge with a joycon charger not with a USB port.
You would need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for buying these controllers in the first place, and unfortunately for playing any classic NES games.
Ah, memories

Report suggests Switch 2 can play all original Switch games
But reporting also suggests that the Switch 2 will retain backward compatibility with digital and physical Switch games, which could justify retaining some kind of backward compatibility with existing controllers. This new Joy-Con charging cradle could provide current Switch owners a way to continue charging Joy-Cons and NES controllers even if they can no longer be attached to and charged by the console itself.
But that's just speculation at this point.

If the bottom of the Joy-Con touches, or almost touches the base of your charger, these controllers will likely not insert sufficiently into the charger for the pins to make contact.
They DO attach to the Switch itself when using the factory dock, but it creates a handful of edge cases where you can't charge because your NES controllers are reliant on your Switch for charge.
Probably a non-issue if your Switch is always docked.
I did eventually find one that can charge the NES controllers because it has plenty of overhang space.

I can't vouch for the newer version, as the chassis is molded to the Joy-Con shape, which, of course, the NES controllers would not conform to.

(note how a tiny bit of the Joy-Con gets embedded into the chassis)
But…considering how late we are in the switches life span it does make you wonder why they would release an official Nintendo joycon charger that doesn't need the OG switch to charge the joycon…
