This would be the fastest price drop I've ever seen for an XPS, unless Dell is pulling a Lenovo.

A note to anyone looking at this, or any of the other Snapdragon based laptops - these Snapdragon chips use the ARM instruction set, not the x86_64 one used by Intel & AMD CPUs; while some software has native ARM versions, and MS cooked up an emulator to translate x86_64 programs, a fair amount of software either runs really poorly on these machines, or does not run at all. Double check what software you use and see if it is compatible before considering the purchase of one of these machines.

I love misinformation, please list the specific applications (not games) that perform poorly.

I have the surface laptop 7, my VPN software isn't working (PIA). But Chrome works amazingly well and the battery life is nice.

State of VPN on ARM Windows 11 (including Snapdragon Elite) computers

VPN worked fine with my standard work VPN via the built-in Windows 11 VPN client.

Nord VPN, Express VPN and PIA (edit: PIA client now available) don't have clients that work on ARM Windows 11 because they require driver level network virtual devices. Drivers can't be emulated, and require WHQL certification and driver signing to verify reliability. This is part of the reason for the recent CrowdStrike outage. Even though CrowdStrike's driver was WHQL certified they cheated the system by having its driver run unsigned/untested code via "detection update files" data files.

Express VPN, Nord VPN, PIA and others have all announced they are working on ARM native clients.

As a work-around many popular VPN providers have the option to connect via a generic OpenVPN or Wireguard client to get basic functionality. Basic functionality means you may not get some extended features such as automatic reconnect on connection loss and extra stealthing features. Both OpenVPN and Wireguard have ARM native clients:

Wireguard: https://download.wireguard.com/windows-client/
OpenVPN: https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/

You can see if there's a native client available by checking this well updated ARM app repository:

Known state of VPN clients on Windows 11 ARM:

-Express VPN: Native client in testing, you can use OpenVPN for now: https://www.expressvpn.com/suppor...h-openvpn/

-Nord VPN: Native client in testing, OpenVPN can be used for now: https://nordvpn.com/ovpn/

-Mullvad: Native client being worked on, you can use Wireguard for now: https://github.com/mullvad/mullva...2239493196

-PIA : Native beta client available: https://www.privateinternetaccess...indows-vpn

-Torguard - Both OpenVPN and Wireguard can be used for now: https://torguard.net/tgconf.php?a...nvpnconfig

-Surfshark: Native client available: https://surfshark.com/download/windows

-F5 Big IP: Native client available: https://my.f5.com/manage/s/

-Cisco AnyConnect VPN: Native client available: https://www.cisco.com/c/en_uk/pro...index.html

-Checkpoint VPN: Native client available: https://www.checkpoint.com/quantu...ccess-vpn/

-Palo Alto Global Protect: Native client available: https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com...or-windows

-Windscribe: Native client available: https://windscribe.com/download/
