The configuration you'd want is 16GB minimum as the 7310 memory is soldered along with i7 and 512gb ssd in A condition with HD resolution. Note many of these are 1366x768

The 8gb (4GB x2) spec can be deceiving and can lead you to believe the RAM can be swapped out.

I personally would go with the 11th gen i5 tiger lake chip Dell 5420. While it's not tiger lake H, there is a performance bump over the 10th gen. https://www.dellrefurbished.com/l...ude%205420

The RAM is upgradable on these as well and can be had for similar price as the 7310. Also 1920 x 1080 screens.

I bought a dell refurb over a year ago. Very happy with it. I do wish I would have went for the larger screen but at the time my old laptop had died and I could not wait.

Now they seem to have faster CPU's but really mine is plenty fast.

Do you mind clarifying what you mean by "heavy"? Is the weight given here incorrect? https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...3l731013us

2.69-2.91 lb sounds pretty reasonable...

I have 2 14 inch Lenovo's as well.. they seem much lighter. For the most part this is a good laptop, but for actual "putting on your lap" work, it gets uncomfortably hot.

advantage or disadvantage, my screen has the privacy feature built it, you can turn it off, but still, its a little less bright.

Also no HDR, but windows hello is available, and finger print scanner..

I also hate the touch mousepad.. it got better with a firmware upgrade.. but sometimes, it feels laggy.

Thank you! I bought this one based on your comment (and link!) about the upgradable RAM.

Buy at your own risk! the warranty is only 100 days... I purchased one earlier this year and the screen died on me 140 days for no reason. Total trash customer service

I bought of these refurbished ones couple of years back, it still works moderately fine, but from day 1 the fan noise was too loud.

Hope you guys are luckier.

Keep watching Dell Refurbished. They have a 45% off any laptop sale pretty frequently. Once every few months. Just gotta catch it when they have 2 in 1s in stock, but that's pretty frequent so. Def the best way to buy one. I got a 2 in 1 refurbished a few years ago for like 170 and it's a fantastic laptop.
Do you know when was the last time they have that coupon?

Make sure they dont jack the price up and call it a sale with the coupon.

I know Dell has been known to do this.

I bought Latitude 5320 with 11th gen i7, 32GB ram, FHD+, 512GB NVMe for just $300 ~3 weeks ago. Love it small ,fast, light, good quality.

Was running great until yesterday then Microsoft updated Win11 Pro 23H2 build number 22631.3880 was installed now it's slowed it down to a crawl. CPU/RAM/Disk all show under 20% utilization.

So - I installed "Microsoft PC Manager" from the built-in Microsoft Store. 2 more reboots ,and now it seems to be back to normal.

exactly same model and specs as yours. After updates no slow down but fan runing on high. trying to fix it by speedfan with dell support fan control option in it.
It said A grade but keyboard/touchpad dirty with skin. has 2240 hours duration on battery.

I have same issues but this seems to help, check with comment and pictures of using speedfan software with enable dell support fan in its options.

Just as an FYI Dellrefurbished charges a restocking fee of 15% for returns

https://www.dellrefurbished.com/faq

What is the return policy?

You may return product purchases within 30 days from the date of the invoice to obtain credit for the purchase price (excluding shipping and handling charges). Please note a restocking fee of 15% of the purchase prices may be charged unless the product is defective (as reasonably determined by DFS at DFS's sole discretion) or the return is a direct result of a DFS error.

Can anyone confirm if the 5420 laptop has a thunderbolt port to power an external monitor? I'm reading that it might, but the info was hard to find.

interested in 5420, however, what is the battery life and performance look like for these refurbished? 5420 came out at 2021, battery may be 3 years old if not replaced. Anyone had experience with batteries from dell refurbished? thanks.

Even a brand new unopened item has a mandatory 10 or 15% restocking fee. I dont know how anyone buys direct from them with that policy.
