This is my first post so sorry if I missed anything. I just got my 2025 Leaf leased yesterday from Boulder Nissan and the price actually is $9/mo. 24 month, 10k miles per year lease. This is the cheapest monthly I've seen in CO.

Total costs:
Dealer fees + sales tax = $2300
Optional damage coverage = $600
Lease return fee = $320

I argued no point there, have no logic to follow or skin in that game. My only intent was to point out that to pretend weight difference does not exist is silly. It is well known fact that there is a significant weight difference between EV and gas.

I do feel lying and posting information meant to deceive is not a good thing. I also wonder why you think I needed some correction for something I didn't even do when we had the other member trying to brush away and hide the significant weight difference.

I also don't like hypocrisy and will point out that large and heavy vehicle owners were quite demonized and accused of not caring for other people safety yet when another crowd wants a heavy vehicle it suddenly seems fine to risk other people lives. Can we expect the "Killer EV ,Dude in a big headline anytime soon? If it is a consideration for gas vehicles shouldn't it also be one for EV?

Killer Truck, Dude
How will you feel when it actually does?

Weight in cars definitely should lower for various reasons including safety and as battery tech gets better and more energy dense it will be. Trucks and SUV are problematic not just because of the weight, but mainly the huge front end.

But if you also want an apple to apple comparison, a BMW M3 is 1800kg, a model 3 is also 1800kg, despite all its batteries, so EVs are not necessarily heavier than their counterparts

No necessarily but 30% or more in general. The strange thing is that people will try to hide that fact and just stating that fact gets you demonized like you have blasphemed Christ or something.

I've considered EVs and still am but one of the sticking points is that I do not want to be associated with such a weird and nasty crowd. Is it any wonder that people shy away when the proponents big selling point is that you are evil planet killer if you do not choose and worship as they do.

Yes, gas powered is the only way to go!
Plenty of articles out "there" lately, discussing that almost half the current EV owners regret their purchase and are going back to gas powered engines asap.
Thumbs down don't change the truth!!..lol
Get out of that cave sometime.

There is already a thread open on Nissan Leaf, and I posted why $9 per month deal is not as slick as $52 a month. I'll paste the same here:

—-

$9 a month sounds catchy but $52 a month is a better deal (about 50% better!). I'll explain:

$9 a month deal requires you to pay $699 dealership fees, $699 acquisition fees, and taxes on rebates which comes to about $2400 due at signing. When you consider total lease value for the entire two years, it is $2400 + (24 x $10) = $2640. I'm using $10 instead of $9 since you have to pay taxes on $9.

Now, here's the math on $52 per month:

$0 down, $52 per month.

The $52 includes all fees and taxes (dealership fees, acquisition fees, rebate taxes) and 1st payment. Better than advertised $2400 due for $9/month lease

This is better because:

1. $0 due at signing. Not even dealership fees or acquisition fees. You roll them all into your monthly dues.

2. This is a biggie: Total lease cost of $2640 vs. $1248 for 24 months everything included. Clearly at least 50% cheaper.

3. All fees and taxes are prorated for 24 months instead of the entire amount.
Is this only Colorado as well?

? You know people who have solar and living a place where they can produce good amount of solar energy, has been pretty much electricity independent for a very long time.
My yearly gas cost was close to $10,000 dollars, in Southern California and with Costco gas. And now I'm driving the same distance, was twice the horsepower, zero gas or electric bill.My panel produced, on average year round, 50 kilowatt hours per day.

I mean if you happen to have a oil field and refinery in your backyard, you'll be crazy to not drive a gas car, this is the same logic.
And there you have it. When you have lots of usage, it's valuable to get marginal cost down! OTOH, I probably have put less than $10,000 into my car in 10 years (4 of those in coastal California), so an electric car is unlikely to make sense for me for quite a while... though it doesn't keep me from shopping.

90% of stats are made up. 100% of people I know who have EV has gotten second one for their spouse or considering as their next vehicle. I am on my 3rd EV (previous 2 were leases)
I have no horse in this race, but this is not a made up stat. It's the result of a study by McKinsey, a nearly 100-year old management consulting firm.

There are some seriously unintelligent people in here.

First of all, the emissions created by the mining of lithium takes several years to balance out to, instead, driving an ICE vehicle.

Second, the ACTUAL initial cost of the vehicle, once you take away government incentives, is way too high to be worth the trade off. Add in that a ICE engine will on average last 2 or 3 times as long as your battery, it obviously doesn't make fiscal sense to make the purchase.

LOL at all the people talking about the oil industry trying to tug things their way, as if the rich "clean energy" people aren't doing the same.

You can see where Al Gore's finances lie, when he is pushing wind and solar, as if those are the energies that look promising now…

How about our Secretary of Energy and her millions in energy investments?

Keep watching CNN and MSNBC…lol

Can anyone explain to me why we must subsidize and give welfare to this demographic?

Wonder if it is they are in the government and corporate offices that dream up transfers of wealth to the already rich and well to do paid by for the working class.

Many probably had their college tuition paid by the single mom Walmart clerk and now they want a fancy car.

As of 2020, owners of EVs were predominantly middle-aged white men earning more than $100,000 per year.
Men make up 75% of individuals who purchase battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).
People aged 55+ make up 53.6% of BEV owners.
Those earning $100,000+ annually make up 57% of BEV owners.
87% of EV owners in the U.S. are white.

You lie about shit. I live here! If you know someone that lives there, you have them buy 2, and you pay the $9 for them for their troubles.

Yeah. I have to keep in mind the same people who say, "I believe in science", also say, "girls can become boys, and boys can become girls." LOL

Can you guys explain the process of changing your internal sex organs or chromosomes for me? I still am not sure how it's done….
