Anyone have thoughts on ETL today? I've had ETL electrical items burn up so have avoided anything that's not UL. This is so cheap it's very appealing lol

ETL and UL are equivalent. What is more important is to be aware of WHICH standards a product is rated to and whether the stamp on the product is real.

You can get a produced ETL or UL tested to standards that don't really fit the safety needs of the product (and dupe consumers).

Also an ETL and UL are tested against samples. You can still do a crappy job manufacturing.

Finally, a couple of anecdotal personal experiences isn't a good statistical sample of whether a product or safety standard or listing is "GOOD"

To answer your question and be able to answer it yourself in the future:

TLDR: 20A for 12awg and a short cord, however the product listing says 15A so ymmv

Thanks. Amazon says 15. Others say 15 and 20 in this thread. I'm gonna assume 20

When it comes to things like extension cords and surge protectors I never go cheap. It sucks, bc you can get items that will work for a fraction of the price, until it burns your house down or lets your expensive TV get fried from just a surge. It's worth what amounts to a minimal amount overall to buy quality imo
