If a burrito is over $10 it should come with free guacamole if you want it. These places are now nickel and diming the customer for everything now. Actually I should rephrase that and say "dollaring and five dollaring the customer for everything now." My bad. I really think this next recession is going to be a deep and long one. Everyone has their heads in the sand just like with dot com bubble and the housing crisis.
Scary, Let's watch for next 5 years

Screw Chipotle and their scumbag CEO. He drove up prices and lowered portions to line his pockets and juice the stock price. I used to love Chipotle, but have vowed to never give them another dime until they fire that shit bag CEO and start offering fair value products. Qdoba, Moe's, Baja Fresh, Tijuana Flats... Plenty of better options out there. #FChipotle

Where you getting $0.2 haas avocados? You live in CA or Mex?
You really think tens of thousands of Chipotle buys their avacados from grocery stores?

Steak is nearly $10 a pound, minimum wage for fast food workers is $20 an hour in southern California. Where do you think there is profit margin in a $10 burrito to be offering you a free $2 avocado?

Good luck making even a burrito with guac at home for under $10.
Do you think they only sell a single 1 pound steak burrito per hour? And do you also think they buy steak from your local grocery store? lol

They buy ingredients in bulk. It's not ten dollars a pound lol. And the $20/hour worker generates a lot more revenue than $20/hour.

Cost to them is different than price to consumer of raw or final product. Why would or should they sell at cost?

Well, maybe CAVA on the east coast is good, but I went to one in San Diego that was terrible. It was definitely more expensive and with smaller portions than Chipotle and the food wasn't great. I prefer Mediterranean style food over Mexican style, but I would rather go to the local Chipotle than to CAVA.

I have 2 near my house, one location skimps on portions like you mentioned and the other one is very generous. It's heavily store dependent. I'd read each store's google review regarding portion sizes before going.

Tricks to ordering CAVA and getting more food is always do it in person, make your own bowl and to do the following with zero upcharge: (I'm probably a Cava Fiend at this point)

1) Ask for 1/2 greens and 1/2 rice as your base. (I like super greens and brown rice) there's no upcharge for this. Dips I like reg hummus, red pepper hummus and tzatziki.

2) Secondly when it comes to the dozen or so free toppings instead of asking for each separately, I'd just say "everything except, x, y, z" I always get the crispy pita strips topping at the end and also a side pita, both of which are also free.

3) Lastly for the dressing you can choose multiple. Personal favorite is lemon tahini and yogurt dill combo drizzled on top.

It always turn into a lot of food in my experience for similar price to chipotle.

I've given up on Chipotle, their burritos are almost all rice and beans with a tiny bit of meat added.

I've never had an issue with online orders. You can select "extra" for any of the toppings for the entrée. My bowls are always massive...easily a meal and a half.
I would say my Chipotle is great if they didn't burn the chicken every single time but their portions are massive. Might sound odd but I get upset sometimes because my burrito's are too big and I either stuff myself or throw some away.
