FYI- Saw this for $5.99 at my local HomeGoods/TJ Maxx just last week.
Bought at $10.99 guess I'm returning. Amzn would really benefit from having a price match mechanism on the website. It would be a win win for everyone.
I have the same mallet, been using it for about five years to make schnitzel and the like. It's not the best. The throat is too short, and I've busted my knuckles on my cutting board many times when trying to hammer out a piece of meat.

It's a dumb standoff. If they automated it, bots could scan the site and make huge amounts of adjustments for large purchasers. But I do think if Amazon had a 10-day guarantee, the customer goodwill would be off the charts. Right now, putting the burden on you (and the hurdle of making the return) is all the barrier they need.

Especially for $2 in your case Wink

That's why you put in a 30 day guarantee and don't drop the price 2 days after dropping it again without having a recourse for the customer. There's a reason why price guarantees exist in the merchandise world because people can just return it and it winds up costing the supplier. Also, when you buy multiple it compounds. They're paying for not only the price drop, but the shipping both ways, not me 😊

Well, normal retailers also don't charge different prices for shoes based on size. Amazon gets away with far too much that nobody else could pull off. I'm tapering back after 25 years of shopping there. It's just all gone too far.

I've done the return/rebuy thing a few times just to call their bluff. It wasn't a bluff, their system is just a huge waste of resources.

Speaking of that, yesterday I got a $0.65 pencil shapener in a shoebox from them…

I have too, and I've also contacted them for large priced items and they gave partial refund. If they wanted to they could limit the number of items they provide the guarantee for to exclude mass flippers from benefiting. Either way, it doesn't make sense to not have it at all.
