Origins was a good start to the RPG era of AC, but Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage have steadily gotten more mundane over time.

But I would say that if you want something more in line with classic AC, everything prior to Origins falls under that.

You know that part of a hero movie where the main character is misunderstood and becomes shunned by everyone, and has this gloomy montage before redeeming himself and winning glory? The entirety of Valhalla was that montage part. Your friends hate you, your clan hates you, you hate you, your enemies hate you. Every action you make is questioned, and it never lets up. There is no redemption arc. Drop this into a world that was 10x the size it should have been because they did select all, copy multiple times, and you've got Valhalla.

I really liked Unity. It got a lot of flak for its buggy launch, but by the time I played it the bugs were mostly all taken care of. It was no worse in that regard than any other AC game. It felt a lot like the older ones, gameplay-wise.
