We went there in Dec 2023. Beautiful beaches especially Vieques and Culebra Islands. From Culebra we went to Culebrita island for snorkeling that was amazing. Totally worth it. On Vieques island Bio Bay tour was memorable.

Not many seats seem to be available, most of the times are about 400 each way when I searched. A 6am flight is available for that 89 one way price, but with an 11 hour flight time. So, cool deal if you can make it work.

I was hoping I could find a cheap flight to dallas from Spokane, WA but nope. Cheapest flight was about $300 for the night before and I would have to hang in the airport overnight. If you live in Dallas or close, it could be a great deal.

You will need to travel a bit to get to nicer beaches. Not sure how they are doing with the sargassum problem these days.

Much different than Cancun. CancĂșn is all about all inclusives. Puerto Rico is much safer to explore the island and Old San Juan is really cool to walk around. Spend a day in the forest as well. If you like leaving your hotel room Puerto Rico is much better than the Cancun area.

Of the 2, there far more to do in PR, beaches/rain forest area/old San Juan.

Could also grab a port intensive cruise & visit some world class beaches from SJ, generally far less expensive vs those departing from FL

Been to both. Depends on what you are looking for. Beaches are better and prettier in Cancun. PR is more chill but some of the beaches are really really crowded. I prefer Cancun b/c i like the way their water looks. Never been to Vieques and Culebra tho which is on a diff island.
