Welcome to 2024. We moved passed 2014 CDMA vs GSM stupidity.
Nope. I ported multiple. Just open Google voice number and unlock for $3. Then create voice main pin and that's it. Provide those to total by Verizon when you want to transfer
This will most likely go down to $100 in a couple of months based on previous Razr series.

I'm on the same thing and it's been 2 days
It's been mentioned several times that it often takes 2 days - or more - to get numbers ported from Google Voice - and weekends don't count. Be patient.

Check the prior TbV threads - they've been known to not honor their pricing or promotions. We've had to report them to the FCC. Avoid them at all costs.

I just escaped total after 4 ridiculous yrs and 3 attempts to port out of my Total nightmare! They literally hold your number hostage! Always a new (invalid) excuse even after they send text that porting out is in progress! This time it took 4 days to finally get it done ...

I suspect total is also part of the problem with the long activation..

I've had my present Google voice number for a couple years & last month a telemarketer started bombarding me with pre recorded calls 4-5x a day starting before 8:00 a.m. always from a different area code/number so can't block.. anyone have advice to shut this down (besides a lawsuit)without having to get another Google voice number?

You can buy up to 2 phones. Order the 2nd one within 10 days of ID verification or it will expire and you have to verify again.

I tried but its not applying the discount on the second order so I am not sure what am I doing wrong

I have no ideas why you didn't get the discount on the 2nd order. The terms say you can order 2 phones. I did the TbV iPhone11 deal which has the same terms (port-in, verify ID) to get the phone discount price of $49.99. The 2nd order got the same discount on the phone, and also a $20 discount on the plan. See attachments.

Do they take this long to get it shipped? My order from 8/2 is still in approved state.

You can register your number on "National Do Not Call Registry".

That does seem slower than usual, they don't usually ship on weekends but seems like Mon/Tues should have been assigned a UPS shipping number.

That is so weird. I tried like 20 times with no success. The only thing different that I noticed was that it doesnt do my verification this second time so maybe because of that I am not getting the discount but I dont know how to fix that.

I have the same issue. Discount doesn't work for the second phone on the account. I even tried creating a new account and used the same ID, but I get a message that the discount can only be redeemed on the first account. When I log into the first account, and go through the process of adding the phone, I get a message that says "ID verification in progress" or something like that just before you add the phone to your cart. Discount doesn't show up on adding. It looks like their system is borked. Will let it cool off for a few months and try again, or have my wife order a couple of phones with her id.

This is a pretty decent phone for the money, but $255 + tax is still a non trivial amount and definitely not worth buying to resell as as you start heading into the $400 range, the market is flooded with top tier phones. Now if they dropped the Razr to $100 + $55 plan, it would be worth it to me. Maybe that will happen later this year. Motorola phones tend to lose value fast. Going to save my wife's id for a more worthwhile deal if one pops up as we still don't know how long Total's cooling off period is for an id (could be a year).

When I did the TbV iPhone 11 deals, I ported in numbers that were not the ones used for verification. They all went OK. Some people got new numbers but that's pushing the limit a bit.

Maybe their system is broke, not triggering an ID re-certification but doesn't automatically give you the phone discount either. Below is my experience when I did the TbV iPhone11 deals.
* Account #1: ordered 1st phone on 4/22/24, provided a port-in phone number, did the ID verification, got the discount on the phone. Order 2nd phone on 5/14, provided a port-in phone number, there was a pop-up message saying my previous ID verification had expired. it made me do the ID verfication again. Got the discount on the phone, and $20 discount on the plan.
* Account #2 (in wife's name): ordered 1st phone on 5/24, provided a port-in phone number, did her ID verification, got the discount on the phone. Ordered 2nd phone on 6/1, provided a port-in phone number, it went right to "ID Verification Discount Applied". Got the discount on the phone, and $20 discount on the plan.

As always, thanks for detailed data!
What's your take on 'concerns' voiced by some over ID verification?

There are people who don't like to provide their ID details and they have their reasons, it's their choice. I'm NOT going to debate their decisions. In my opion, one's personal information (name, phone number, address, email, DOB, SS#, DL#, vehicle ownerships, past/present addresses, etc) was already collected and sold to data collectors if one ever had car insurance, home insurance, cell phone service, credit cards, etc. If you've ever gone through one of those ID verification questions by banks, credit card companies, Metro-by-T-mobile, etc you will be surprised by how much of your personal information is already "out there". All you can do is to monitor your financial accounts to detect any fraudulent activities.

With regard to TbV ID verification process, the info they ask for is already "out there" (with the exception of the selfie picture), and they stated that they do not store any of your documents. The fact that if you wait a while (around 10 days or so) to order your 2nd phone then they will say that your previous ID verification had expired backs that up. Whether you believe them or not, it's your decision.
