Vitamix does produce a stainless steel container that is compatible with this model.
I purchased the 5300 back in 2016. I had a little issue with billing (they online system didn't take off a $60 promo code that I had), but I called customer service and they were helpful and took care of the issue immediately.
As for the product itself, I love it. I work from home now, but when I was still working at an office, I made a smoothie to take to work with me, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, for SEVERAL years. Never had an issue. I did purchase the 3 year extended warranty, but never used it, even though the Vitamix I purchased was a refurbished unit.
I will say that regarding smoothies, I recommend using crushed ice instead if cubes, if possible. (Faster that way).
To clean the container part, I'd simply rinse it out, squirt a TINY dab of dish soap in it, fill it about 2/3 with hot water, put the lid back on, stick it back on the base, and turn it on for 20 seconds. Rinse out, and it's good to go for next day. Personally, I would recommend it!

I have a Ninja now and been wanting to upgrade to a Vitamix for a while. Does anyone have any feedback on this one? I'd rather buy once, cry once so is there anything to look out for?

Is this worth upgrading to from a ninja? People go nuts over Vitamix but is it worth it?

Why can't they use glass containers, not a fan of plastic

+1 for vitamix. A room mate had ninja he used to make protein smoothies twice a day. They lasted under a year and he was on his third or fourth unit. But once cry once was my justification since the cheap models can burn out quickly.

It's a workhorse. But I'd say unless you need something extra solid and powerful, and your Ninja isn't doing what you need, don't worry about it.

They are excellent for people with daily use and tough blending jobs, but not omg magic, if that makes sense.

I'm not sure what you mean by noisy but Vitamix blenders are very loud, as many powerful blenders are

It's really good. I have a similar model and the blending power is great, and there have been no issues these past 5 years, so for this price it's worth it

I nearly upgraded to the new generation Vitamix (from Vitamix 5300) but the new pitcher design is holding me off.

The lid is now a piece of hard plastic with a separate gasket around it. This lets any liquids seep in between the lid and the gasket and start to hide gunk. You'd have to pull the gasket each time to clean it all. This is the main reason why we switched from Ninja blenders.

The old Vitamix design had a lid made from one uniform piece of flexible TPU-like material. The lid acted as a lid and a gasket at the same time which eliminated any crevices for food and bacteria buildup. It was super easy to clean. It was the only blender that had a lid without a separate o-ring. Not sure why Vitamix felt the need to downgrade the lid for the sake of it being clear. If you care about hygiene or ease of cleaning, beware of the new models. As far as I know, the new model blender bases do not take the old pitcher.
