I can't imagine what Paperwhite 6 will offer. Other than color, the Paperwhite 11th gen is nearly perfect.

Wish they would allow us to use bluetooth clickers to switch the page left and right -- that would be badass. Color screens once matured will be lovely too. They should also move the power button to the top IMO. One other thing - stop spamming us with the Internet not connected for those of us who keep our kindles on airplane mode.

This comes with the Basic Pen. The Premium Pen is worth it.

Premium pen has a dedicated eraser and a built-in Shortcut button. I have it and don't think it's a big deal really. You flip pen over to erase rather than touch erase from little menu not much of a time saver.

Got it last month for 192$ w/basic pen w/trade-in. Ended up buying the premium pen later to try it out and kept it.

At 205$ without trade-in is a great deal.

Without the premium you're really going to miss out if you're gonna write on things.

My suggestion if you can't get a premium one is to head to eBay.

Trust me, the eraser function is unmissable.

I bought the 16GB Scribe with a premium pen for a total out of pocket of $160 including tax a few days before prime day. Had to trade in a 12+ year old item with zero value for a 20% instant discount, and got 20% CB from a site. I am not including the $3 I got for trading in the 1st gen fire tv stick in the $160 total. Trade in 20% discount was instant without needing to actually send in the trade in item.

Love my Scribe. The display size is a game changer and makes reading so enjoyable. The premium pen is awesome to draw, doodle, etc.
Which site offers 20% CB?

Yeah, I don't use the pen a lot as I primarily bought it to read on, but when I do use it to write or draw, the premium pen's side button that I have mapped to the erase function is a must have. I found it more convenient to click the button to activate erase than flip the stylus to erase, but that's just a personal preference.

This is such a great device. I wasn't sure if it made sense to buy it considering all the phones and tablets I have that I can also read on, but the Scribe is just on a totally different level when it comes to eye comfort and the quality of the reading experience. I am looking forward to taking it on a long flight loaded with books instead of a laptop or tablet. And if I get bored reading, I can doodle or pen down my thoughts/ideas in a notebook.

I've had the Kindle Scribe w/ premium pen for over a year. It's a good device but there is definitely room for improvement.

Pros -
1) Note-taking works well, and it's intuitive. It has changed the way I take notes at work. You no longer have to hunt for your notes as much within a notebook.
2) Screen brightness is pretty uniform; no discernible black spots.
3) Once you get used to reading books on a larger screen, you'll find it more preferable than the smaller kindle. Of course, you cannot hold it up for long, but you learn to prop it on your body if you are reading in bed.

Cons -
1) Bluetooth works really bad for audiobook listening via Audible. I'm convinced it's a firmware issue with all or many kindles. I went through three kindles; got them all replaced via warranty. Each time they sent me a (probably) refurbished unit. They looked brand new, so I didn't care. I've given up at this point. The issue is that audio works well for the first few minutes, and then the sound starts crackling, with noticeable static and jitteriness of the audio. I doesn't matter which headphones you use. I've tried various different ones, and all of them had the same issue. In fact my primary listening headphones are Amazon Echo Buds. I tried everything from resetting the device to trying out different audiobooks. Nothing helps. It always starts well, and after 3-4 minutes audio turns crappy. There are a few other reviews on Amazon complaining about the same thing, so I know I'm not alone.

2) The note taking software is clearly behind its competition. Various other eink based note taking devices have much better functionality (e.g. Remarkable e-readers). It was first thought Amazon is starting with a basic set, and will eventually improve. But that hasn't happened yet.

3) It makes for an excellent manga reading device, but again it's held back by its software. One has to resort to third-party desktop tools to convert them to a desirable format

4) Kindles now support epubs — kind of. You can email a non-drm epub to your kindle address, and it'll appear in a few minutes after conversion. But that's not the same as having true native epub support. It's time the industry converged to one format; Amazon being one of the only holdouts.

Damn. Do they really do that now? Glad I stopped updating when they added "recommendations" to the home screen. Will have to look elsewhere for my next e-reader.

Lower than Prime Day at Amazon (~$239).

On one hand, I am holding out for the Paperwhite 6 (due in <12 months), but my aging eyes may need a Scribe just for reading.
i was coming from a really old paperwhite to scribe, much faster, easier on the eyes. and if you are into it, comic books are readable. I have not used the writing that much, and it still feels a little overkill upgrading from my old Paperwhite, but quality of life, day to day useage is a lot nicer.

or add manual buttons. The page change is painful.

This always seemed like overkill for an ebook reader. I wish Amazon would allow tablets to take notes.

I prefer touch screen. No need for buttons.

If you have trouble reading text on a Paperwhite 6 don't try to fix the problem with a bigger screen, get some glasses. Your eyes will thank you.

How well does switching pages work for you?

That's the pain point for me, that I do repeatedly especially since the screen is so small. I end up reading on my phone or tablet, rather than the Kindle reader now. Another pain point is marking text in books when it spawns different pages.

Fixing those and I'd be happy.

Anyway to get one for cheap?
I got one with the standard pen and bought the "STAEDTLER Noris jumbo 180J 22. EMR Stylus with soft eraser" pen for it. I highly recommend it. I like the way it writes much better than the one that came with it and the eraser works. The only difference is no shortcut button but for the simplicity of the Scribe it's not needed. I have a surface go and a Samsung galaxy which have a stylus with a button and on those I use it.

I wanted to share my experience after using it for note-taking in class for about six months. Sometimes, it freezes when I try to swipe the page left or right. While I can still write and choose the pen type, I can't move the page without rebooting.

The next best alternative to this is remarkable. But for note taking at this price, I can live with this occasional issue.
