Have not gone to Target in about 7 years.
Now they have (perhaps it is not new) special prices for students. Others pay higher prices.
Some people will disagree here, but it alienates other customers.
Ok, seems like you have issues with Target. And a one time coupon for students ain't it. 🌈 Or something else. We all love it. Hope you find some peace and happiness.

They all do it however retailers should never alienate their customers by saying some customers will get a lower price than other customers.

Targets itself have not turned out to be the 'Walmart alternative'.
If i go into a Target first i still have to go in Walmart to get items. If i go into a Walmart first, i dont need to go into a Target.

This looks to be the same model that was at Costco last month for $79. I picked that one up a few weeks ago. It's a good unit, especially for the price. It's a little noisier than I expected. We have it in our insulated garage but it could be annoying in a dorm room. It does get pretty cold at setting #3. Drinks are nice and chilled. The freezer comes in handy for ice packs or cubes but I do wonder if defrosting it will become annoying. I am not sure how often it will need that. We are considering returning it and going for one with adjustable shelves and no freezer. Maybe even a larger one. There's barely any room for cans larger than 12 oz unless they are stacked sideways on the shelves or put in the door.

Overall I think it's a good value if you don't care about noise or adjustable shelves. I think it looks more premium than the price suggests. Power efficiency seems good at 220 kWh per year and in line with others in the class.

Is this a good deal for $100? Not a student here but there is need for a mini fridge in our home.

There's not a major retailer in the country without a seasonal student discount/promotion. The goal is to pull people shopping for school into their stores instead of other stores.

Seems to be. Same price ($100) at Costco, as well. Wanted one for outside kitchen use but don't want a freezer.

Correct.
Point is lower prices for some customers alienates customers paying regular prices.

What's the use case for these, though?

Assuming this is targeted for college students moving into their first dorm, however most dorms provide mini-fridges these days (or the combo microfridge). All the colleges my son has visited so far this year include them, and they were already becoming standard 20+ years ago (at least here in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic)
