How long before these become 500$ because so many apps still can't use the arm cpu?
I think this was featured on a recent Linus tech tips video. They were gonna do a 30 day challenge and I remember this vivobook being one they were gonna consider

Good deal. Don't spread misinformation. While it's not a gaming laptop, most commonly used applications have an arm version. You can do a quick check of the apps you use and see if it fits your need.
Even without the arm version the translation layer for x86 apps still has them all working ok. Not great, but mostly useable. Again, if you don't game and don't have a very specific app that doesn't work well on arm, then this is a no go.
Office, Vs Code, most of the adobe creative suite already have native apps, a couple are in beta.

These won't be hitting $500 soon.
Mostly usable is not a great way to describe a $1k laptop....

I guess a lot of people have one device for everything so you know I can understand it's not fitting that niche. And that's the thing. This is going to be a device for people who want the benefits of 18 hours and just the future of computing. That is what the Windows operating system. All the other devices have been on this platform for so long and they started off on this architecture so you don't have that issue. Windows has a whole lot of overhead and they've done a good job by keeping the x86 world going, but this is for the ones that want to start transitioning over. I will personally get one of these if I didn't just buy a macbook air, because I just wanted something light portable and long battery life. Of course jumping ship means I'm leaving a lot of Windows stuff behind but I'm already a dual triple user anyhow. So you know for people who are not trying to have a one and done device, that's what this is for you will see the benefits.
