He's actually pretty messed up about it, to the point where he retired.
"We did everything we could as a team and a group of fans to convince EA to let this next chapter happen. EA decided to kill the project and the possibility of any future for Alice. That decision is on them. But we can make a decision of our own – and it's a strong decision to make – to move on. That is what we do have in our power."
While he was specifically talking about a third game, rather than a remaster of this, I take his statement to mean they're not going to even do a remaster.

I just got the game and uninstalled "EA App" just to check (Had it for Battlefield games) and it did not install it like some games.
I don't think "Origin" exist anymore and its just called "EA App".
