What's the advantage of this over manual pruners? I'm intrigued... We have a ton of pruning every year. Just didn't really understand the application of a power tool here.....

My experience with these was pretty negative, to the point I am not planning to get any more Ryobi tools in general and from HD in particular. YMMV.
How so?

Last month I bought $350 worth of Ryobi tools. I tried returning them after 3 days and HD show some critical error on their computer won't allowed me to return it. Manager told me to try again later and I gave up to 90 days.

I returned to the store a month later trying to return it to find out that I can only get store credits for it. They said it passed 1 month return period. Which is bs because all their return are 90 days. They old me to go dispute with their 800 number.

This is the last time I'll purchase Ryobi and that HD location. For $350, I don't think it worth my trouble so I just took the store credits and spend on something else.
My online receipt for this tool shows "return period has ended" even though I got it last month. All other purchases show the normal 90 days. I wonder if it's because they put it in on clearance?

Gota mail order tool in March, only to realize later it was someone returning defective one. It checked out ok for a test cut, but in May when the season started it turned out switch is properly activated on 1 out of 2 attempts. Return window already closed. Warranty service - apparently it worked once for them, returned without repairs. Reaching to a person is virtually impossible... Maybe a some point I'll fix the thing myself.

I have a nice set of long handled compound loppers. If I am pruning near max capacity of the tool, I've got about 160* angle on 28" handles. So I basically need my entire arm reach worth of space available inside the tree. To get that, I often need to do more pruning.

If my store wasn't an hour away and only reporting 1 available online I'd probably find a reason to shop in that area and try to snag it.
