I appreciate your steps, I am going to try this as I pay 90 for the lowest service now. If I go to the link in the deal above and see if it applies to me, it tells me I already have service at that address. So I am not sure how i would order the new deal service w/o first cancelling. I did use a neighbors address, that i know doesn't have Spectrum, and the deal is there - it just won't show for me because I have an active account. If I call and have them cancel on the last day of my billing cycle, and then order new service the next day I'd likely have to wait a week or so for the modem which isn't the end of the world.
Yeah, now it seems like they reverted back to restricting online orders like before. For a couple of years, I didn't have this problem, but no matter. This just means you have an extra annoying step. You schedule a cancellation first, and then call in with somebody else's phone (your friend's or one of your family's). When you cancel, you just say you're moving out. When you call in for the order, the person calling in will say he/she is moving in. As long as you scheduled your cancellation, the agent will see that in the system and most likely there won't be any more steps involved. However, there is some chance the agent will call the current account holder to verify so it's safe to have two numbers with two different people to handle the calls. Don't tell them you know each other. As far as everybody's concerned you are all strangers.

There are so many things impacting performance in a residential setting. There's many statements about bandwidth in this thread which are accurate. Cable companies want you to have a FOMO a many here have bought in. "Sir, do you watch 4k video? Oh, well we recommend the 500/40 plan."

Video conf solutions (like teams) dynamically adapt bandwidth based on what it is observing (loss and latency) in an established connection.

So many things impact video and gaming, like the airwave frequency saturation (apartments and condos and townhomes), bad AP placement, crappy cable carrier phy nic and WiFi chipsets, crappy residential network components, damaged cables.

Unless you've shared your ssid password with everyone and none of your housemates are BitTorrenting, 100/20 should be just fine until 4 screens are trying to watch 4k at the same time.
Now if you have baby cams as well that can affect things… I had the 100/10 plan the Nanit, even at lowest settings, was killing my ability to play Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer… YMMV

I assume I have to port out any existing cell phone lines before I cancel existing spectrum internet service, right ?

This is a horrible deal. They had a deal a few months back for 1 gbit down for 39.99, for two years, with 100 dollar gift card.

If they do call to confirm, just tell them it's for 'Art Vandelay'. Problem solved. : )

If you skip the free mobile during online order, are you able to add it later with ongoing Internet service? And will spectrum start the billing cycle for mobile only after you activate service on the phone?
TIA!

Who *does not* collect a SSN for residential utilities and services (besides pay-as-you-go wireless)?

The link shows the 100Mbs deal, but after putting in my address, the slowest/cheapest one is 300Mbs for $39/month. Also note in the facts label, the rate goes up to $50/month and there's a $30 activation fee (self install).
At any given time there is like 4 offers with different speed and price for the new users.
I think it is different companies trying to sign up new customers as leads or agents for spectrum.
I can find the nearly identical offer priced at $29, $39, $49 depending on being offered on (not in particular order) website, facebook, TV, or mailed in.

BTW.
Guy (from lead finder company) came to door offering fiber 500 Mbs for $29 / for 24 months.
Since I was being bent over by frontier at 50 Mbs for $65, 10x for 1/2 price was a no brainer.
Had issue because coax to house was disconnected at box down the block.
Rescue installer they sent out, said there isn't fiber within 10 miles of my house. He said fiber is only going in to new areas being built out. Also worth noting, bill came in and said if free 12 month phone is not accepted within 30 days, the router will no longer be free, and billed at $7 a month. On the plus side, the speed is running about 575 Mbs & 21 Mbs up wireless to my laptop.

In my experience, if its stable you wont have problems. If you have a consistent issue it will be a nightmare to fix. The only other issue is if there IS an outage, it usually lasts less than 1 minute or 4+ hours, never in between.
Only other option is Verizon 5G wireless, which isn't suitable since I work from home. Not even sure if they give you a public IP address.
Verizon does give a public ip. T-Mobile does not.

are there any extra fees/deposits when you sign up?
e.g. broadband label says $30 fee for self-install?

Thank you OP for posting this. This tier of internet service is not posted on their website in my area but I was able to sign up for it. Downgraded my service from 300 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

How were you able to downgrade? I tried calling the retention department and they said they won't be able to downgrade me because this promotion is only for new customers.
