About this product
The ThinkCentre M625 Thin Client is a perfect choice for progressive IT managers looking to deploy responsive, secure, space-saving desktops in any environment.
The ThinkCentre M625 Thin client is extremely compact at 96% smaller than a traditional desktop tower. Just 1 liter in volume, this PC fits just about anywhere and can be positioned horizontally or vertically—mount it on a wall, behind a monitor, under a desk, or even on a cart. Like all ThinkCentre tiny desktops, it’s tested against military-specification requirements, as well as 200 rigorous quality checks. It’s great for industries like healthcare that need to rely on extra privacy and security, as it can store all data on your network rather than the individual device.
With a base clock speed of 1.6GHz and max turbo frequency of 2.4GHz the AMD A4-9120C leaves little to be desired over the previous generations
128GB NVMe: A solid slate drive that leaves the power at your fingertips with the fastest data transfers currently available
Windows 11 Pro has similar functionality to Windows 10 but has all the enhanced features you could ask for
8GB RAM memory allows smooth performance for you everyday use, photo and video editing applications
DDR4 RAM: with its higher bandwidth, everything from multitasking to work reports get the performance boost you've been looking for
The ThinkCentre tiny client comes with a physical Kensington Security Slot to keep your system safe
Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) Wi-Fi antenna delivers a strong and reliable Internet connection

this is a fun little media device to play some mp3s
A raspberry pi v2 would handle that for much, much less and less power requirements. If you know anyone with a r-pi, chances are they have a v2 doing nothing somewhere. See if they will sell it for $15.
Most nerds probably have moved to pi3, pi4 and p5 models. I still use a pi3 to drive our home projector for movies. In another room, there's a pi4 driving a different projector also for media playback. The pi4 is an excellent media player.
I have a pi2 unplugged on a shelf that is an emergency LAN DNS server. Generally, I run DNS in a linux container, but sometimes that container refuses to start so having a fallback pi3 that can do it is useful. It runs anti-advertising and malware DNS blocker called "pi-hole". It can completely change your internet experience, though I suspect SD isn't a fan.
Something like this might be a cheap NAS for limited needs, but for $20, I found a 10th gen Core i3 instead (with little ebay searching) for a friend. She added a $30 2TB SATA HDD and loaded OpenMediaVault onto it and has been using it as a home NAS for nearly a year now. The only issues she's had are self-inflicted. They have power outages and don'[t have it on a UPS. Sometimes she steals the ethernet cable from the NAS for a different computer and struggles to understand why it isn't on the network anymore. Not everyone is a computer nerd.
I bought this a few months ago from Staples. Got the $25 in rewards from it too.
The description may say, "Thin Client is a perfect choice for progressive IT managers" ...
But I'm neither progressive nor an IT manager, and the fact is it is a Window 11 Pro computer. Not fast. Limited (128G SSD) storage. But it's a computer. We have it as our kitchen computer, for occasional web browsing, MS Office installed, Outlook, etc. Everything works just as it did on the windows real computer it replaced.
I expect to save over $100 per year in electrical utility costs using this vs. the one before it (which was equally slow due to being old). It is silent and uses very little power. Networks with the other PCs in the house. It gets its job done. Did not require any advanced technical development to get it working, just like a normal computer.
I should also point out that the first factor in the purchase decision was that I needed to spend Staples rewards $$. So comparisons to eBay, etc. are not so relevant.
I just bought this Thin Client on Aug 22, 2024 and I LOVE IT. The speed is ok for my application for just watching movies. Obviously it will not be as fast as a desktop computer but it runs smoothly on Windows 11 Pro. I went to check on the warranty and it began on Nov 2023 so what this means is it was sitting the in warehouse for a long time and no one has purchased this at all I guess because the speed. But for me it is OK because I just watch movies on this machine with 8GB. So I had to contact lenovo and send proof of purchase a long with my hardware serial number to start from Aug 22,2024 till it ends next year.
