The new version coming out would be a lot better in every aspect except price. So this is a good deal if price is the main concern.

Where do you get your info? I'll wait but a quick google search didn't turn up anything.

EDIT: nvm. It's on the front page of milwaukeetool.com

Is the new one in question the 6" M12 Fuel 2584-20 ? I see a few others like a 3" model. It looks like the 2584 is for auto-body work vs this 5" one that looks like from their site is more of a general sanding tool, if that exists.

Grabbed one.

There is a new line of these coming, but for weekend warrior stuff - this will do just fine.

The new one looks incredible....and expensive. They are releasing A LOT of new tools. I'm happy to take advantage of the discounts on the new-old stock to make room for the pricier stuff. Milwaukee is pretty solid and has held up better than any of my Ryobi or Ridgid tools.

I own this sander. I paid about $50 bare tool a while ago. Like many reviewers have said, it's OK at best. The dust canister is garbage and the lid is next to impossible to put on and stay on. If not in the Milwaukee ecosystem I would avoid this tool.

It's a sander, not for detailing maybe for auto body work at best but no I would not use this for detailing your car unless you really like swirl marks.

Not a great product, hopefully the upgraded version is better.

Yea got this about 8 or so months ago for $72 through a return hack. Everything you said is true plus the heaviness (using a 5ah) bothers me a bit bc I've only used corded before this. I do like the ease of cordless though but I wouldn't pay more than what I paid for this. I have no problems using this and a cheap bosch for finish sanding.
